i think its hard to design something thats already designed( and a good one too)...it's a collaboration...Rick Owen & Rogan also try their hands on furnishing..

I actually really like RL Home by Ralph Lauren. They sell it at Lane Crawford, Hong Kong and I always enjoy how homey it all feels:

is there a specific term for this kind of design ????

Design of chairs, tables, lamps, bedsheets, pillowcases, etc. things for the home
industrial design?
product design?
furniture design?

I did see an interior design competition show last night (like Project Runway), and they had to design a functional piece, like table or chair or bed...
But I thought interior design is design for interiors, like arranging ready-made objects, choosing wall colours and materials, etc.

Rick Owens

Owens called the furniture, which he will produce in-house with the help of an artisan who once worked for Gaetano Pesce, an extension of his aesthetic vision.

Made in materials such as plywood and resin, it includes a chaise longue, a sofa, chairs, lamps and a curved screen "covered with industrial insulation foam."

"The shapes are formal, but made of transitional materials," said Owens. "I wanted something with a sense of permanence, something that was difficult to move."
