The Jam emerged from the punk explosion of 1977, combining the energy of that movement with the musical values and styles of the previous generation's mod icons.

skinny ankle length pants and 3 button jackets with narrow lapels...skinny ties

white socks and loafers or saddle shoes...

the classic english schoolboy look that some of us love so well...

lots of lonsdale...(t's and wrestling/bowling shoes)...pumas or adidas or converse hi tops

some of the classic styles represented by this genre...you can see it on the runways and music videos of today...

I present to you the original!...

Love the paisley, and the way they use contrast their socks with the rest, some of the ties are rather natty too. I wasn't around at the time but I find The Jam a bit too wholesome and cleancut...as you say a bit schoolboy...

The Clash have a much dirtier look:

Is this another of Paul Weller in the retro Lonsdale?:

 i LOVE Weller's 'late' capuccino boy style
    [IMG]
lots of stylish friends & x-boyfriends used to get inspiration
from Weller's style, minus the tie thingies :p

(together with Nick Cave, Bryan Ferry & Paul Simonon)
i think he deserves a place amongst the best dressed male musicians,
    of our time.

thanks for the topic softgrey :flower:

 Almost that exact suit is in the local Oxfam...

It's a four button tight cut Paul Smith with ultra-tight trousers in light blue/grey...

What a coincedence...hmmm...I like them more because they wear suits...I'm such a suit snob...
