The Last Movie You Saw?

Finally went to see EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE which was... insane? Maybe a bit too goofy at times, but the central relationships hit home. I laughed, I cried, I cringed.

“Bridesmaids”, but completely censored.

Like…why even bother?

I saw Andre Ahn's Fire Island a few days ago. I didn't expect the film to be as affecting and hilarious as it was. Around two weeks ago, I saw Everything Everywhere All at Once, which I also loved. :flower:

Finally saw Elvis:heart:. I love Baz' work but his last two films just didn't quite reach the same level of.. splendor, the way Moulin Rouge and Romeo & Juliet did for me, I remember being so entranced when I first watched them, with all the richness and exuberance, costumes colors and sounds.. and, happy to report Elvis is up there with these two. Baz is one of the best story-tellers imo.. or more like, he tells these epic stories the way they should be told, with all these details, grandiose elements and a way of presenting context that is immersive, not just about informing the viewer, even when it's historical events or political debates.

I don't know why I had doubts about Austin (his smaller role in Once Upon a Time was quite good) but he deserves all the hype, he's phenomenal.

Highly recommended for anyone who misses that kind of unapologetic decadence of fashion shows.. this ticks all the boxes (costumes, set design, colors).

Saw Men finally. Bit of a let down. The second half/ending was just so try hard with the symbolism and subversiveness that I was just waiting for it to be over

I'm three cans of Guinness into Tarkovsky's The Stalker on a Sunday night where I get to wake up whenever tomorrow because I'm off for the week ahead.

You enjoyed "Fire Island"? I watched it too, and found it to be the exact opposite of affecting and hilarious. I was rather disappointed. If you like Joel Kim Booster and stand-up comedy, I recommend his "Psychosexual" show on Netflix. Now THAT was hilarious!

I finally got around to watching "House of Gucci" on Amazon. It was good...not great, not bad..just good. I don't think I'd necessarily watch it again, but have it playing in the background while I'm working remotely? Sure.

Great to hear from you, eugenius! I liked Fire Island indeed, and I also saw Joel's standup special the other day. That was hilarious! Hope that you're doing well. :flower:

I'll give "Fire Island" another try. I do tend to like film + TV more after the 2nd or 3rd viewing. And I hope you're doing well, as well :)

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989). It was so dumb but a good laugh, sometimes that's all you need.

For me it's the opposite. I found Fire Island to be pleasant and charming (though not exactly something to write home about) but I found Psychosexual to be incredibly tedious and in its absolute best moments only mildly amusing.

Elvis, and thought it was brilliant (glad I never bothered to rush out and view it at the cinema, though). Never been a fan of Elvis, never liked his music or had any interest in him to be completely honest but wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

I just re-watched the Fyre Festival doc, the one with the guy who volunteered to do THAT in exchange for bottled water.

So many WTF moments in that whole fiasco. Classic case of people having all sorts of money, but absolutely no brains whatsoever.
