The MAC Makeup Thread

I can't do Shiseido, sadly-they animal-test and I strictly use cosmetics by companies that do not.

As far as MES, sure, they do best with a base but Fresh Green Mix is just as fab without. It's one of the best Mineralize MAC has put out, PERIOD.

Vanilla fairy, the shades are as follows: Our Pick, Hipster, and Faultlessly FW on top, and Runway Fave, New Berry, and So This Season for the bottom. Tomorrow I'll post my swatches from Style Black, as well as Tone: Grey and Red Full-Stop (I put those all together, heh). The swatches aren't great, but it gives you a general idea of what you can expect.

As far as Pearlglides, I haven't used any only because I tend to do shadow+glitter with a 212 or 231 as my lower liner. Here's three ways I'd use Rave:
1. As a liner for a smokey eye (not waterline)-this would give a nice pop of colour.
2. As a lower liner with any neutral look-purple goes well with neutrals and makes them pop.
3. With other purples-this will stand out due to the pearl, so it gives a nice amount of visual interest.

The Pearlglides aren't waterline safe, sadly-it's due to the shimmer. I would love for a perfectly-pigmented coloured liner to be matte so that it could be used on the waterline, but no dice, sadly.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! You're MAC pros! :woot:

My colouring is super fair skin, dark brown hair and green eyes. I think plums will probably look nice with my eyes, as purples are always suggested to me, so hopefully the trax will look good ^_^ I'll be checking out Mylar too, thanks Ta-Ta ^_^

You will definitely have to give Goldmine a go then because I have very similar colouring to you-except I'm a bottle blonde for parts of my hair, and I'm tanned thanks to the summer. Sketch is another one that you will want, my mum has it and was recommended it because she has brown eyes but with some green.

The lip colour that the models are wearing on the pics is apparently a new cream blush coming out SS10...it's new texture-wise too, which is the best thing about it

Yep, I am definitely excited about that. There's also going to be Crushed Metal pigments, or something like that.

It couldn't get any worse anyway :ninja:

It's the same colour on both pics though, just different lightning

Well the MAC artists have been going to update this week, and two upcoming collections I heard about: a collaboration with Lilly Pulitzer, and an "All Ages, All Races, All Sexes" collection.

lily pulitzer? that sounds like a bomb waiting to go off. ew.

trista - the dsquared lip erase seems interesting, but what the hell do i do with it irl? i think i'm getting the lighter sculpt and shape, the greasepaint and that's all.

^ Barbie sounded pretty awful to me, but wasn't really ... I'd expect Lily Pulitzer to be very ... pink, and maybe green  Could be cute and bright. The "All ..." collection sounds a bit broad

Temptalia got all the deets from the collections, and here's what it's looking like:

Lilly Pulitzer: Lots of pinks, with some green, orange, and yellow accents.
Warm & Cozy: Lots of browns and ambers, it's a hot chocolate/spiced cider themed collection (IMO).
Love Lace: Basically almost like Chill part 2, with a lot of silver tones.
All Ages, All Races, All Sexes: Neutrals, universally wearable colours. Bleh.
Magic, Mirth, Mischief: The holiday colour collection, as well as the sets-the eye, lip, and face palettes, the eye, lip, and brush bags, and the exclusive sets-think an expansion of the Nordie's exclusive. There will be one, bien sur, but there's also Mineralize sets that will be exclusive to MAC stores.
Baroque Boudoir: The more high-end collection, with sheer-toned glosses, creamier lipsticks, and Sheer Mystery powders.
Mischief Makers: The lipglass and pigment mini sets. Nothing else, just those.

Honestly, I think MAC is really reacting to the market. There are more holiday sets than ever this year, both palettes and bags alike. People are really wanting value, so MAC is delivering. They also want new colours, and there are a lot of those, along with some really good repromotes. All of the Lipglass sets have 2 perm or repromoted lipglasses, 2 repromoed or perm Lustreglasses, and one LE lipglass exclusive to the set. The lip bags are a lipstick, a Dazzleglass, and a promo-sized lip pencil. The eye bags are a Fluidline, a pigment, a mini Zoomlash, and a 209SE. Also, you notice a lot more collections of wearable stuff-there's nothing really "out there".

Of course, my debit card is now officially in the freezer until I get a job-but I could look at spending well over $800 in these next few collections, so maybe hibernation is a good idea.

All Ages, All Races, All Sexes sounds like something I'd love if I needed anything

I might get the Face & Body foundation some day, it seems really sheer...and I've noticed that the MUAs use it every single runway season for the natural looks (which are of course my favourite)

Does anyone have a clue when style black is getting a uk release? I'm desperate for it!

Yep, you'll love the "All..." collection, as it will be referred to from here on out by me, if you love the truly neutral looks. The Warm/Cozy fits in very well, because for many years, the post-Christmas collection was a sort of winter-themed collection (ie: High Tea, Danse), and it had MSF's (the last two years being an exception). I am excited about new Shadesticks, but I really want new, LE Fluidlines.

Actually, the main holiday stuff comes out on the 15th. The pigment/lipglass minis come out on the 5th. The luxury collection comes out on the 25th, but the main holiday? Two weeks.

trista eek need to change it on my calendar then. i think the most appeal is the packaging :D

Just make sure to not bold my name in replying to me...it gives me massive headaches:)

Definitely mark the dates out on your calendar, though. If you live by a CCO, you can feasibly skip the brush sets, and some of the luxury items. The thing is with how bad the economy has been, more and more complete collections are coming to the CCO. With the holiday stuff, it's always iffy. I've never seen lipglass sets there, but I've seen pigment sets come in twice.

Oh, I heard a rumour that the VAE will become permanent, which ties in with the rumour that MAC bought a volcano. Take this with a grain of salt, but don't be surprised if you see it relaunched next spring.
