The MAC Makeup Thread

the ungaro collecton hasn't hit copenhagen yet.. I was wondering what do you guys think of the ungaro beauty powder? is it anything special ?
It hasn't hit Århus yet either, I was there an hour ago and nothing... Please do tell if you find it... I really want to try on Pure Rose.

Am I the only one who finds MAC cosmetics quite dissapointing and exceptionally pore clogging :ninja::innocent:
I don't use their concealer anywhere else than the under-eye area. I break out immediately, and I rarely ever break out. I do love the MSFs though

I've heard the bad things about the MES in RSS...Disappointing b/c I thought I'd get at least one.

Things are really cut back in terms of my lemmings. I am looking forward to the Chill collection. I know I already want two of the shadows.

Dame Edna will be impossible for me to avoid. I can see myself with Royal Tour trio, both the Highlight powders, all the lipsticks except Gladiola, and then definitely Possum Nose Pink lipglass.

Apparently the Metal Urge shadows are NOT reformulated from the Metal-X shadows. Hope that saves you all some money.

can anyone reccomend any of the creme sheen lipsticks?

^ I saw the Ungaro collection, but hadn't seen requests for info here, sorry. I didn't see anything that made me swoon ...

Sheer Minerals and Red She Said are up on the site...as well as the new Mineralize section. The MSF's, thankfully, are $25 and not the $28 I had been hearing. Gold Deposit is a permanent one, as is Soft & Gentle.

Red She Said has a ton of repromos-the silver Fluidline (Silverstroke?) that is on its way out, Eye Brows, all but one Dazzleglass, and then Pomposity lipstick. The MES, like I said, are a yucky mess. The lips though...they sound good. I'm going to get Red She Said, as well as one of the Beauty Powder blushes and Miss Dynamite DG. If you have a CCO nearby, and you really want Pomposity, check the CCO before you buy at the counter, because I know my CCO has Pomposity.

Totally passing on both collections. The more I stare at the DE collection, the more I want it!

Trista, are you eyeing any of the holiday palettes? I want the Smokey eye one but I have the Smokey eye palettes from 2006 & 2007 so I'm not sure if they are very similar. I might want the Cool palette but I probably will hold off until it goes to CCO b/c my CCO still has the palettes from last year and they just recently got rid of 2006...so I'll probably hold off!

As of this moment, no. I may CCO the Classic palette, but honestly...it would have to be a ton of Veluxe Pearls or come with a free lifetime supply of Oh Garnet to get me to rush buy. I'm more into Sheer Minerals, the lipglass sets, and then Dame Edna.

I got my Manish stuff in today too!!! Unfortunately, my camera and computer both are being very naughty, so I haven't a chance to post yet. Everything is insane though. The top of the packaging has the "MAC for Manish Arora" logo. The inside of the packaging has a very Manish multicoloured pattern.

The designs on the packaging are NOT stickers. The palette, I almost wish it came with the velvet pouch like how the Gem palettes did. It is gorgeous though...although the 213 SE is really shorter-handled than other ones I have. The closest similarity, and this is a bad comparison, is Patternmaker when it comes to the blushes and so forth. I would have to say though that even though many of the items are permanent or easily duped, it was a good one for me since I am still relatively new to MAC. There are two ways that it could have been better though. First, they should have made Ungaro the online-only and had Manish as wide-release, but with a few more products. This would have been an insane collection for some great bright eye pencils as well as maybe some glitters and brighter pigments, and who knows, even bringing back the Crystals (the stick-on crystals from Adorn). Also, I wish they had axed Deep Truth and instead put in an orange, in a frost or VP finish. I would have loved Orange Tangent or Sunsplosion to be in the palette.

Devil is definitely not somthing I would ordinarily buy, but I will learn to work with it. It definitely needs a 188 or something to apply it with a lighter hand if you are on the fairer end of the spectrum. Kiss Manish is amazing. Think Port Red meets Sci-Fi-Delity. I wish I had bought backups...

Final verdict on the Manish stuff-worth every penny and then some.

Haven't had a chance to try Bright Sunshine on the eyes yet, however I am definitely doing a few yellow looks soon.

It's being put on the display right now as I type in Copenhagen.. I'm going to try and drop by later today.

Well, maybe I should get myself downtown and have a look... Thanks Hanne, you're the best

np :flower: .. you might want to call ahead to make sure it's being put on the shelves in Aarhus at the same time

Okay I tried bits and pieces of the Ungaro collection and Trista you were right.. it didn't get me too excited.. the beauty powder is nice.. but I'm not sure I really need it.

The Sheer Minerals - in particular silver aura is .. but I was lured in by Smashbox.. and got their eye illusion instead which I think will do the job of highlighting quiet nicely instead.

Has anyone tried silver aura? If you had to choose between using that as a highlighter and a pigment.. which would you go for ? I'm just afraid there's too little 'bang' in the sheer minerals.. Thoughts?

I've recently been offered this and I'm very happy with it
I don't wear make-up very often, sometimes just some lipstick or/and some powder.
However it's nice to have some quality make-up even if it's to wear from time to time.
This one leaves a delicate smell on the lips, which stay coloured, dry yet smooth for a long time.
The glossy texture provides the possibility to put just a slight of it on the lips

(my snap)

The two main reasons why I am not getting the Ungaro version of Not So Shy is because first of all, I can get the normal one of it at the CCO so I don't see the need to pay full price for this one. Second, while it looks gorgeous, I prefer doing brighter colours on the lip. I tried Girl About Town last night, and I love it. I much prefer it to Hollywood Nights because of the texture, and also it is more of an everyday bright pink...I only break out Hollywood Nights once in a blue moon these days. If there is nothing really great in at the CCO next time I go, I might pick it up.

Hanne-I actually am eyeing those Sheersheen powders. I think that this is the most subtle cousin of the beauty powders. I am having to cut back, so that is why I will only get the Sheersheen powders if I pick up an extra shift at work, because I would rather get more of Petticoat and So Ceylon. I am hoping to end up with at least two of each one.

i LOVE the Manish Arora LE lipglass, unlike other tinted lipglasses this one is highly pigmented and really compliments my tan (i live by a beach, so..) plus the packaging is too cute to be resisted! ^_^

The Manish glasses are amazing...this afternoon, Pink Manish was up on the website, but it's since sold out again. People are asking RIDICULOUS prices for it on eBay. We're talking $35+ for the lipsticks and lipglasses, and then $60+ for the palette.

Also from what my friend who is in Toronto told me, So Ceylon already has sold out on the Canadian site. So don't think twice about getting the MSF's. I'm going first thing tomorrow morning to swatch and get my stuff. She also told me that there has been official confirmation that there indeed will be a Hello Kitty collection, launching in late winter-early spring.

So far, my wishlist for the rest of the year is as follows:

Sheer Minerals
2x Petticoat
So Ceylon

Red She Said
Stark Naked
Red She Said
Miss Dynamite

Metal Urge
Spiritualize
Reflects Bronze
Reflects Purple Duo
Reflects Blackened Red

Little Darlings
Pink lipglass
Coral lipglass x2 (one for a gift)

Dame Edna
Royal Tour trio
Kanga-Rouge lipstick
Coral Polyps lipstick
Possum Nose Pink lipglass

I got one of each of the LE MSF's today. So Ceylon looks very intimidating, but it goes on so nicely. It's a nice bronzer. Petticoat is gorgeous. The one I picked out (I am notoriously picky, I had to make sure it had just the right veining) looks like it is marbled with the raspberry and light pink, and a decent amount of gold. I also preordered one of the Coral lipglass sets, and one of the Pink lipglass sets. Nordie's also had out the Adoring Carmine bags (the two lipsticks and small lipglass) and while they seem great, I might only get the Red if it ends up at the CCO.

Also, for those of you Nordie's shoppers, there will be a party bag. It's $45, and it has lashes (I believe #7), Blacktrack Fluidline, a special glitter liner, a 209SE, and a mini Zoomlash, all in a little bag. The Classic palette is really the only interesting one, the green in there is absolutely gorgeous. I'm not too crazy about the packaging though, and I'm not buying a palette where I only like one of the shades.

i had a look at the red she said collections today, but didnt buy anything.

i liked the look of the mineralize eye shadow trios in "threesome" and "outspoken" and the lipstick in pomposity.

i liked the the dazzleglass in red alert.

not sure what i should go back and get...
