The MAC Makeup Thread

I am beside myself for the nauticals collection, it is so fab I cannot even contain myself! Buying it all. My MAC collection is ridiculous. I sometimes can't afford food, but I can drop four hundred in makeup. My life.

what is the best mascara of MAC?
my lashes are fine and few
i want very volumed and thick lashes

personally, i don't use mac mascaras. i use black magic supernova mascara by fresh, and that can run you a good $25! :( but i have always heard people rave about mac's plushlash!

if you want thick and full lashes, though, you could always give talika a try. it's clear and it really does work. i've been using it for two months now, just about, and now i only use it once or twice a week because my lashes have grown so long that the bottom lashes get tangled with the top sometimes and it's a bit annoying. here's a link to it!

I think they have a mascara for volume, just check the website and look at the info. I personally like MAC pro longlash. It makes my lashes look very natural and glossy. I haven't ever had a problem with the pro lash mascaras by MAC.

I don't believe so, I believe the only pro mascara product is the mascara mixing medium.

Naughty Nauticals is nice, but after seeing those swatches, I'm springing more for the lipglasses and less for the shadows. I could potentially not even get any of the shadows, Submarine would be the only one. Illegal Cargo was so promising but it's too grey for my tastes and I do not wear greys. I will be getting at least three of the pigments though, and the Lustreglasses are looking more appealing now. I got it down to $102.50 for everything I want, pre-our 9% sales tax. That's a lot less than what I spent on Heatherette. After I found out though that the Dazzleglasses are LE, that will be brutal.

Tis insane though-10 LE collections between now and two months from now:
Dress Camp-a collaboration sold in select Pro stores as well as in Asia (a lipstick, two lipglasses, and an eye/cheek palette)
Naughty Nauticals
Dazzleglass-really glittery/shimmery glosses
Skinsheen-body bronzers? I dunno.
Neo Sci-Fi-bright lips and then neutral eyes, also bronzers...I am digging the Phosphor nail lacquer and the Electro l/s. It has orange packaging. 5 lipsticks, 5 eyeshadows, 4 lipglasses, 4 nail lacquers, and 2 shimmer blushes (which look better than the bronzers IMO)
Solar Field-bronzers and then Solar Bits, which are probably pigment pearls or something.
Future Earth-exfoliators with volcanic ash and charged water. The more skincare portion of the three-parter.
Tendertones-tinted lip balms
Summer Trend Bags-the special bright coloured bags.
Cool Heat-5 slimshines, 7 shadows, and Turquatic Hue

^ 9% sales tax? that is ridiculous! i complain about 7% and 3% depending on where i am shopping, so i think i would be like, NUH UGH!!! about 9%. :(

you seem to have a pretty big mac collection. do you recommend any nude or natural rose toned eyeshadows at all? i am in search of something soft and fresh for an every day look. right now my staples are pretty much... blend of tilt and naval and nude lipstick, or no eyeshadow at all and very simply... some lu-be-lu lipgelee and some mascara.

i am addicted to lu-be-lu. when i was told that it was possibly discontinued, i almost cried.

Oh man, the Naughty Nauticals probably won't come out here for ages, if at all. I really like the look of Party Mate.

hi guys i need your help! i want a lip gloss in such a color.... how to describe.... well naturally red you know like when you bite your lips or after eating berries or something like that! Winter cherry.... i hope this makes sense:D sales assistant couldn't help me cause they don't have everything right now there... so maybe u could advice me sth:flower:

^ i will pm you asap. let me just look for it in my make-up bag. because i forget the exact name of the color. :flower:

As far as a good neutral or rosey shadow goes, a lot of people like Sin by Urban Decay. I really don't use a whole lot of neutrals, admittedly, but Goldmine is a really good one. It's not overly rosey, it's a true gold, but it's very flattering. What I do to create a great pink look is I first put on Crystal Avalanche (if there is a must-have for me that is definitely one of them) and then I use a blending brush to layer Pink Pearl pigment over it. Have you tried Sweet Lust? That might be a good one. And if you're wanting to go more bronze-y, Amber Lights is a really good one.

Yes, the sales tax goes up every year seemingly in our state, however it does even out as we do not have state tax returns when it comes time to do our taxes. I actually don't have a huge collection-it's only very recently that I've become obsessed.

i am going to give amber lights a try. i am looking for a pinkish, but more nude look. maybe blending amber lights with pink pearl?

A good pinkish nude that I use all the time is In Living Pink. It depends on your skin tone though, so it may look more nude on darker tones than lighter ones.

So today I paid a visit to my local (well not terribly local, I have to take four busses to get there) CCO and they were well stocked with MAC. I picked up the Jewelmarine glitter and the Aire-de-Blu pigment since I'm low on funds however I am going up there for my birthday, so I'm going to be getting blushcremes, blushes, a few more pigments (Helium and Quick Frost are two for-sures), and so forth.

Yes, they have the Lu-be-Lu lipgelee. (but I'm not sure you're wanting to fly all the way out to Marysville, WA for one lipgelee...)

^ thanks for the info! i went to the mac pro super store and got it there, though. they actually had lu-be-lu! :buzz:

Yeah you should try CCO's if you have them, you're going to be a lot more likely to get discontinued items like that. Not to mention they carry Estee Lauder, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, et. al., so they'll have traincases as well as the GWP's for certain brands on sale from $13-$25 depending on the bag. (but that is a very different story)
