The MAC Makeup Thread

i'm looking for a coral-y lipstick and heard Vegas Volt is a good one.. but im just concerned of how it would show up on my skin since my skin tone is tanned and olive toned... any suggestions?

i THINK their brush cleaner is not good I wont buy it again it might contains too much alcohol and then dryes up the skin when using the brush

What do you mean it dries up the skin when using the brush?! You're not supposed to get any of the brush cleanser product onto your face at all! Do you rinse off the product after cleansing your brush, and give it a few hours to dry?

^Yes of course I do lol but I still think it contains too much alcohol and I will use just a regular shampoo now to cleanse the brushes
I just have a bad feeling with this cleanser

^I am not a professional at all but I think its best to use a regular gentle shampoo to clean brushes especially foundation brushes .

^What type of brushes do you use? I've never had that problem with the MAC cleanser... Plus it's also an anti-septic, and makeup brushes pick up a lot of icky bacteria. But then again, my brushes are all super expensive. This cheap NARS brush I have (with cheaply dyed hairs that they claim are "natural") fades in color with the MAC cleanser. But I guess it comes to show that the brush was just crap in the first place :(

Most of my brushes are Mac or shu but the mac cleanser is too harsh with my brushes
I dont like it at all I would rather use gentle soap and shampoo

I love the MAC eyeshadows and the wet eyeliner isn't bad either...

it definitely depends on what you are looking for....i only use from MAC the Studio Tech foundation and concealer. For pictures its the best looking foundation, its so natural but has great coverage and doesnt feel cake-y. I dont use foundation on a daily basis, becuase i have good skin, only a touch of concelaer and some loose powder but in pictures i always look pale an yellow-ish. So for parties or going out i always use Studio Tech and never disappoints.

is the powder any good? how about compact powder?
and the eye mascaras?

^as far as powders i would only go for studio fix powder however be careful because that can make you look paler in flash photography.

as far as eyeshadows some good ones are: vanilla, shroom, expresso, sable, and carbon

lips: i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE russian red

those are my MAC basics

This makes no sense  The alcohol evaporates, there's nothing left of it if you let it dry :D

I use the MAC brush cleanser religiously for spot cleaning and I have never had any problem. I don't find that there's any overbearing smell either. I use shampoo for deep cleaning once a week or so

My must haves from MAC:

- blacktrack fluidline
- some basic eyeshadows

I have heard some good things about their studio sculpt foundation and its the next thing on my list though I haven't personally tried it.

i bought the matte diva lipstick from this mac make up convention in nordstrom a couple of weeks ago. i've been looking for the right red lipstick for my yellowish asian skin tone and it's diva. the color looks more burgundy, but when i put it on, it looks like dark red wine...i love it!

Oh and to pinktinks, mac did my make up in the photo above, and they used the mineralize loose foundation on me. it gave me great coverage, but still felt light and didn't clog my pores. i was wearing medium plus, hope that was helpful!

I just bought Black Knight lipstick (I've absolutley no idea when or if I'll ever even wear it :ninja: ) Has anyone tried it before? I've heard that it was a bit sheer, but I'm hoping that it isn't too bad.
