The Mascara Thread

The regular one :flower:
I would try the YSL if you get the chance, I prefer it to Diorshow....

I ordered ysl faux clis, I had to try it this all the hype around it. Apprently olsen twins and kim kardashian use it too.

As for mascara being "bad" for your lashes it really depends. Waterproof mascara can really dry out lashes which can cause premature breakage and have the fall out.

I use a conditioner for eyelashes by Talika. It's really nice. I've heard that Castor Oil can be used to condition eyelashes as well.

^ haha, yeah... not a bad idea. i found some at CVS and i had a coupon so it worked out alright.

it's a nice mascara... i wasn't completely blown away, but i can see that for the money it's pretty great. it's very rare for me to use high-end mascara, so i can't compare it to any of those, but i've been using Volume Exact and i definitely like it better than that. it does give a pretty lush look if you use a lash comb and put on a few coats. one thing that's pretty unique about it is that it does hold a curl very well - something i've had an issue with in the past - and your lashes don't feel brittle or dry, they stay flexible and soft.

the wand is really large and thick, which makes it tough for me to get to my inner and bottom lashes without smudging my lids. other than that, it was easy to work with... and it does wash off quite easily.

That's pretty much what I thought to. They had it at the grocery store and on sale the other day. So I got it and meh. It's so not worth the hype it got on MUA. It's not horrible, just not that mind blowing. I'm sticking with Lancome Fatale.

is the conditioner by talika just a lash conditioner, or is it one of those lengthening/thickening gimmicks/conditioners? is it safe? I have really sensitive eyes but use mascara and a eyelash curler on a daily basis so am worried about longterm damage

I think the Talika is just marketed as a conditioner as I think to have a product say it grows hair it has to be cleared by the FDA and all sorts of things.

I know that some girls have reported growth/thickening with it but I'm sure it's just due to the fact that the lashes are conditioned and less likely to break so they appear longer and thicker for awhile until the eyelash falls out or something.

I think it's safe. I wear contacts and it's no problems with me.

hopefully you mascara experts can help me out.

i was blessed with long curly lashes, but that's the reason they are bothering me.
i still need a mascara to separate them, because i have so many that they clump up or gather at the end of my eye and bother me.

is there a mascara out there that seperates but dosen't volumize? whenever i try to put on mascara, they grow even more huge and i look like i'm wearing the fakest lashes ever. just using a normal brush dosent seem to work either.

thanks.

has anyone used castor oil on eyelashes? did you see any results? how do you apply it?

I just started (literally 2 days ago) using Castor Oil on my lashes in attempts to make them more lush. I will update as I see progress. I've read on several websites that people have had good results with it.

I use a q-tip and apply to the base of the lash line and coat the lash it self with the castor oil.

I love Mascara by agnes.b, it´s devine!!!!

have you thought about usign a clear mascara to seperate your lashes? It will give a little sheen and seperate without adding volume.

Margina

clear mascara, yes i've heard of those but don't know where to find them.

i have a clear mascara type bottle from mac, that i used to tame my eyebrows, is that it?

I apply castor oil every night and it actually makes my lashes longer and a bit thicker. I use an old mascara comb to apply it.

yes that is one of many brands that have a clear mascara. ELF has one for a buck and other brands such as covergirl, max factor, bobbi brown have clear mascaras.

i've been using clear mascara for a while now. i wear it during the day, because i don't feel really comfortable wearing much make up on the daytime. it's good for a nice little touch if you wanna achieve a natural look. it's really light, perfect for hot weather days.

Can you actually see a difference in your lashes when you use clear mascara? I've been wanting to try it for a while now, but I'm afraid that it won't do anything.

^ it's not like regular mascara, obviously, but i can see a difference. it's subtle.
i got better results if i apply it more than one time, but a light ammount each time and letting it dry between them.

you could maybe try the one Maybelline has. it's not that expensive, so you won't loose that much if it doesn't work.

is there any drugstore brand mascara that is also "nourishing" or conditioning for the lashes?
