Well katarina, I reacon a great set of teeth really defines the image and I have noticed that as I get older a great smile is more youthful than botox injections. Ive worked on mine over the years and probably wont stop because as you get into middle ago you have to do some cosmetic work to keep youthful teeth. I had a chipped front tooth as a kid and had veneers put on the front teeth to fix this up and straighten the front teeth (instead of braces) and to whiten them. My teth were also too big I felt so I had them shaped down as well. I use floss after every meal use colgate white and use whitening strips on my non veneered teeth. Make sure I get them cleaned every six months and checked. Yes Im fanatical but hay you only have one set and dentures never look real

I think your smile comes more from inside you than from your outward appearance. If you have a fabulous personality and a warm soul, it will show, no matter what your teeth look like.

I avoid colas and wine with a vengence. I floss daily, and brush twice. I also do not smoke, and my teeth are a very natural, nice white.

I had braces when I was younger and my teeth are very nearly perfect. As annoying as they are, they're so worth it. I used to whiten my teeth and found that after the first time I'd done it I could just keep brushing well and they'd stay good looking.


Whatever you do, don't go overboard with the whitening. People who overbleach their teeth look ridiculous. It's on par with tanning too much and frying your hair.

So right!!! It looks as false as anything else, having that white teeth that are almost paper like!

I have veneers on my front 2 teeth so no one really got to see my bunny teeth up front, but you're right I do a whole 'thing' when I smile. It's kind of a blush smile I always do, I get a lot of compliments on my smile from just about everyone... but then again, I'm a pretty smiley person. No one knows it's premeditated though

On a more serious note, he says the companies that make dental veneer materials have had to come up with lighter shades since the advent of bleaching, as the whiteness achieved by bleaching has never existed in nature. He says it's all because of Hollywood. I asked him what he thought of the dental jobs on Extreme Makeover and he said he found them incredibly fake and characterless.

If you look at colour photos of actors and models up till the mid eighties or so, they almost always had yellower looking teeth than what you see today. I just saw an old picture of Jerry Hall from her early days, and was amazed at how grayish-yellow her teeth were (relatively speaking).

In Europe you still see people with more natural coloured teeth, and braces are not as widespread as in the US.
