The NARS Makeup thread

i bought some lip lacquer in a color called eros today... it's wonderful

Reviving an old thread :p

Has anyone used the NARS Night Series mini palette? I'm thinking about buying but wanted to know what others' experiences were with it ^_^

looks so pretty IRL, but i read bad reviews from MUA so not buying.
Really? I must have searched incorrectly on MUA for it then. But that's so disappointing! It looks like it could have been the perfect smoky-eye palette.

the multiple stick look very very nice but they are also very very expensive
wanna try cocapana (sp?! it is the pearly one) and orgasm

NARS is coming out with a vamped up Orgasm blush for Holiday called Super Orgasm. The base is deeper & it has a lot more glitter.

^ hehehehehehe.... super  hehehe  orgasm  hehehe
(sorry for being a bit immature but man this name does really light me up XD)
the orgasm level we can have just been elevated, thanks to NARS :D:D

^ :woot: really!? WOW. that must be something.
I recently bought the orgasm blush and its wonderful. After I saw their packaging and witnessed how good their quality is I'm pretty much sold. I'm planning to buy their Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkryie or Dragon Girl... I didn't think I could pull of red lipstick till I tried NARS' colors.

am loving sheer lipstick beautiful liar (was sold by the name, heh heh...). it's the first nars lipstick that has vanilla scent, and the color is gorgeously wonderfully paprika

Info on NARS Spring collection (there are small pics in the link):

What better to offset the spring runway’s preponderance of exotic prints, slinky jumpsuits, and bold patterns crammed with oversize blooms, than a beauty look that is both strong and sophisticated.

“My inspiration for spring was a very sexy woman,” explains François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics. “I wanted a bit of a ‘70s feeling, somewhere between Guy Bourdin and Chris Von Wangenheim’s photographs—aggressive, but very sensual and fragile at the same time.” In the ‘70s, Bourdin and Von Wangenheim’s iconic images for Charles Jourdan and of the late supermodel Gia Carangi respectively, were sharp-focus portraits of savage eroticism—Nars’ modern vision is more beautiful, less brutal.

A striking matte brick-red eyeshadow, made infinitely more wearable in combination with a pearly white shadow or simple black liner, is tempered by a sweet, baby pink glossy lip; while eyes painted in pastel hues of dusty rose, sage and lilac are a fitting match for a statement-making berry lip. And everything should be paired with the only cheek for spring: sparkling and sculpted.

Can I ask you ladies of good experience. I think I have bought foundation from virtually every company except NARS, and none of them are either pale enough, or if they are pale, they sit on my skin in bits, flake and makes it look dreadful. My skin is oily around the t zone, dry in patches with redness, but the biggest thing is, I'm pale as anything. I'm not pure white, but I'm darn pale and I want to be that way, I'm sick of women at make up counters trying to make me brown. What is your recommendation for NARS?

I actually just did a color match at Nars today and I picked up the oil free liquid foundation -- I have a lot of the problems that you did and I've been wearing it for a few hours and no oil whatsoever! I suggest just going to the counter and having your face done, it turned me into a total Nars convert. My next purchase is going to be the Duo Concealer.

Your skin sounds a lot like mine...

Have you tried Giorgio Armani yet? I heard their matte foundation works well for all types of skin.

I've tried both the NARS oil-free and balancing foundation, I think the oil-free will work a lot better for you. It isn't flaky and there are very PALE shades for it. The balancing foundation looks a bit oily, which I don't like. It's also a lot thicker than the oil-free foundation.
Try shades like Mont Blanc and Fiji! Man you should live in Asia, everything here is made for pale skin!

I absolutely love this line, their lipglosses are amazing, such beautiful colors, their bronzers are terrific, and not to mention they have great blushes which are known worlwide for their quality and pigmentation

Oh wow, thank you so much for your help! I think i'd be Mont Blanc, and thanks for the tip about coverage, that's really useful.

I'll also check out the Armani foundation....I'm not sure they do pale foundations though. I'm jealous, I want to live somewhere they allow you to be pale!

the brume eyeshadow is much much much deeper then i think. it almost look black the first time i see them...

I'm glad it helped! I just got my very first armani foundation yesterday! It's the luminous silk UV spf 20 one- and they do have very pale shades! I'm shade no. 4- which is this very, very light creamy color. Thank god the coverage is very sheer so when I apply it it doesn't make me look vampirish.

I guess the difference between NARS and Armani is that NARS is thicker, and you'd need a larger amount of foundation to cover the same amount of your face. Right now I'm leaning towards liking Armani better, even though it is a tad bit more expensive. (Both of these foundations are ridiculously expensive )

Is The Multiple worth the hype? I'm quite keen on buying one,but not if the hype is just that.

^ I have not tried it myself, but have heard that it's a good product from beauty junkie friends :stuart:
