If you think another title is right tell me how I can do to change it...please, I was thinking also it can be something like nature inspiration or something similar
theyskens for rochas F/W 03 known as a bee-related collection
personally I cannot help thinking he was inspired not only by the image of bees in general but also by a character named "bee woman" from 1971. (sorry but beauty is the symbol of symbols - wilde)
I would say Roberto Cavalli, Thierry Mugler and some Galliano and a bit of McQueen are some of the most prominent players when working with nature/animals and using them for inspiration.
This is one of my favorite pieces, it's from Thierry Mugler's “Les Insectes” S/S 1997 Haute Couture collection.

This dress makes me think of a black widow right away, the silhouette, the color, the villainous flair to it.

And the "Carapace" is structured after the actual insect carapace.
Here's a sketch of it and a few other pieces from that collection
I wish some designers would be inspired by the human anatomy. The bones of the skull and face are extremely beautiful. The brain is too, the structures are amazing
This dress from Thierry Mugler's "Chimere" Haute Couture collection is interesting. I love that it mixes in the lion mouth with the snakes in the print then goes on ans hints a bit of zebra print. He then combined the black and white fabric with actual horsehair on the selves and the hem.
this was originally posted by nqth in the japanese avant-garde 70s-90s thread (no image credit is given). it is part of the campaign for cdg's s/s '97 collection. i think the collection was about redesigning the body (dress becomes body...), not sure if the connections to biological forms occurred to rei/marketing before or after the collection was designed...
the clothes are from cdg's ss '97 collection. each of the 4 garments is shown next to a close-up of something from nature. jellyfish, lobster, etc. however, the collection's connection to nature is probably a little less tangible than other examples in this thread...
