Moderator Note:
The mods have heard your cries and have agreed to test run the notion of giving a select few menswear magazines their own thread. We'd like to start with both the UK and US editions of GQ, alongside Esquire for the first two months - commencing with the August issues. If the threads do indeed receive more buzz, more debate and editorial content, we will prolong the magazines receiving their very own threads. But if the titles fail to receive less than 10 replies and members are unwilling to post the content from the issues at hand.. we will have no choice but to revert back to posting the covers in this particular thread here.
So.. feel free to give ONLY UK GQ, US GQ and Esquire their very own threads from now on, as trail run. Thanks for the discussion and feedback!
Seeing the new magazines posted and the contents I have to say what I explained a bit on the UK GQ a few minutes ago. In my mind and I think in lots of members here, the requirement of having a dedicated thread for men, was to see people (and to also do it ourselves of course) post : male fashion contents. So I strongly believe that Esquire or GQ itself, are simply not fashion magazines. GQ is a lifestyle/health guide. A men´s fashion magazine to me is the one that offers 5-6 REAL fashion stories with MODELS and when the magazine also has fashionable sections. Take for example:
- Harper´s Bazaar Men Thailand
- Harper's Bazaar Man Korea
- Harper's Bazaar Men Serbia
- Numéro Homme
- L´Officiel Homme
- Made in Brazil
- Neo 2 Spain
All of these are real men´s fashion magazines (GOSH I soooo miss the time of Vogue Hommes Japan and Vogue Men´s China) and they are the magazines with which we can all talk about fashion and relevant models and brands and photographers and we can post editorials, covers, sections, runway pages etc. But GQ and Esquire to me, are not fashion magazines and they should not have their own threads anyways.
