Another reason why some outfits look alike, especially those ones from the same season, is because a lot of designers are following the changes in trend. Like for 2006, there is the straight narrow look that a lot of designers are using for the dresses. There are also trends in textiles, like how white lace is big this season. You see it almost everywhere, this lace thing

That is the exact same jacket except the the sleeve length. I saw it in Banana Republic yesterday. BR also sells this jacket in solid white and solid black. There is a lace-up tie in the back that is not shown in the picture and the Target jacket has the exact same tie in the back. Because one of my co-workers bought the Target version.

How could one be a rip off of the other? They're from the same season and were probably shown within days of each other.
