Pete Doherty Paints In His Own Blood
The Babyshambles frontman remains true to his controversial image, as he has submitted a band drawing to the gallery, made in his blood.
Pete Doherty decided to join a line of celebrities who have tried their luck in art. Invited by the We Love Marlborough organisation to support their Get In The Gallery project, whose goal is to stimulate kids between the ages of 4 and 18 to take an interest in art, painting postcards, Pete took them on.
- It’s a really good idea and I`m happy to be able to do something for it – said the rocker who is currently touring Belgium with his band.
General delight of the organisers soon turned into astonishment, seeing how Pete not only supported their initiative, but joined other young artists and painted a postcard in his own blood!
Doherty painted his band, The Bambyshambles and included a song in French.
- It`s clear that his knowledge of French is superb – commented Peter Davidson, the organisation`s representative, for the local Gazette & Herald.
Art work of little painters will be exhibited at the Marlborough gallery and the author of every postcard will be anonymous up to the moment you purchase one.
- It should be pretty to ascertain which one is Pete Doherty`s because true to his style he has painted it in blood. I can`t think we will get many postcards painted in blood, not unless one of the children had a nosebleed while doing theirs – Davidson concluded.
The exhibit will run from July 8 until 10.
