Warrant issued for Doherty arrest

Pete Doherty is in trouble with the law once again after a magistrates court issued a warrant for his arrest.
The warrant was issued after the wayward rocker failed to appear at a court hearing over criminal damage charges, for a second time.
It was expect the Babyshambles singer, 29, would turn up and enter a plea after being accused of attacking a female photographer last summer.
It is alleged Doherty pulled a camera from the neck of snapper Cath Mead, 29, who was attempting to take shots of him and then girlfriend, Irina Lazareanu.
He was charged with causing nearly £200 worth of damage to Mead's camera lens following the incident in Crewkerne, Somerset.
He is now expected to be hauled before the magistrates by the end of the week after failing to attend a previous hearing relating to the same charge on 26th June.

:doh::rolleyes::(

The Babyshambles man's solo effort will be out this year

Pete Doherty has announced that he will complete the recording of his debut solo album this month and release it later this year.

In a statement to NME.COM Doherty confirmed – as he told NME.COM earlier this year – that he will travel to an undisclosed European studio this month with producer Jake Fior to finish the album, which is now over half complete.

Songs set to feature on the album include 'Darksome Sea', 'Salome', 'Broken Love Song' and 'Withdrawn And Shaken'.

Doherty added that he will honour all his booked live commitments with Babyshambles, but will not book further gigs until the solo album is finished.

Doherty escapes arrest despite court no-show

LONDON (AFP) — British "bad boy" rocker Pete Doherty escaped a threat of arrest Friday despite failing to turn up to court on charges of criminal damage, a court spokesman said.
An arrest warrant was initially issued after the recovering drug addict failed to show at Yeovil Magistrates Court Thursday over an incident last summer where it is alleged he caused 200 pounds (250 euros or 400 dollars) of damage to a photographer's camera.
But a court official told AFP that the warrant was subsequently withdrawn, and a new hearing has now been rearranged for July 24.
Doherty, 29, is accused of having ripped the camera from the neck of Cath Mead, 22, as she tried to take pictures of the rocker and his then girlfriend, Irina Lazareanu.
The Babyshambles frontman has been touring in Europe -- playing the Montreux Jazz Festival on Tuesday, the Vieilles Charrues Festival in France Thursday, and was due to play Benicassim Festival in Spain later Friday.
Doherty, the former boyfriend of Kate Moss, had failed to attend a previous hearing related to the same charges, on June 26, which could affect the severity of his punishment.
The court spokesman said: "It's not appropriate for me to speculate. It is for the magistrates to consider but they will take it into account."

ugh i wish i lived in europe. it's sad to know that he'll never play here. (and of course there are many other reasons to wish i lived in europe:rolleyes:)

^^
Are you in the U.S., Ana? I live in N.C. so I know exactly what you're talking about.

Worse?! I bet where you live is gorgeous! :woot:
But you're right. For some reason many bands, not just Babyshambles, tend to skip over South America when they tour.

hahaha i don't live in rio though:wink:
if i had to live in the US i'd live in NY city for sure, but if i could choose anywhere to live i think i'd live in london...i love so many british things (including the accentB))...as far as i know pete can't even go to the US right? because of his d**g issues...

Yeah, he's never toured the shambles here. :(
But I know for a fact that if he did a tour here, just maybe some club dates in NY or Cali, they would be a huge success. He has more U.S. fans than he realizes, I think.

OT:

I just found this cute quiz: "What city do you belong in?"

Pete Doherty wows fans at Montreux
by William French Wed Jul 16, 11:57 AM ET

MONTREUX, Switzerland (AFP) - Rocker Pete Doherty cast off a troubled past of drug abuse, cancelled shows and prison spells to play a compelling set at the Montreux Jazz Festival on Tuesday night.
Coming on stage at the Miles Davis Hall after a medley of classic British numbers from Beatles songs to Joy Division and Oasis, Doherty mumbled "Bonsoir, Guten abend" before his band Babyshambles launched into their first song, "Delivery," to a packed and rapturous crowd.
(...) But there was no sign of this turmoil at Montreux, where he and the band played a taut and focused set featuring hits off the two Babyshambles albums, 'Down in Albion' and 'Shotter's Nation'.
His lyrics make frequent allusion to his personal life, not least "What Katy Did Next" ("There's a lesson I have learned, if you play with fire you will get burned") and "Put the Pipe Down" ("They make you out to be a tearaway").
Doherty on Tuesday also served up terrace stompers like "Kilamangiro" which saw the usually sedate jazz crowd jump, chant and throw beer at the stage.
A notable highlight was the slower "Albion," which marries the spirits of Indie icon Morrissey, punk filmmaker Derek Jarman and suburban poet John Betjeman in a vision of an England filled with "gin in tea cups, leaves on the lawn, violence at bus stops and the pale thin girl with eyes forlorn".
The gig ended on a riotous note, with Doherty spraying the front rows of the audience with champagne before dedicating the final song to a teenage fan who had recently died of cancer.
"This was his favourite," said Doherty before playing an early Babyshambles hit single -- the typically insouciant, provocative and raucous "F*** Forever".
