the poof - in or out.

i think if done casually, it still works, it won't look as trendy.

I think it's still in. It's a very cute way to give an otherwise boring ponytail some pizazz.

One of my friends wears her hair like that regularly, i think it looks great on her. I wish I knew how to do it with my own hair, still have to get her to show me!

My hair always lies too flat on my head. But I think if I pulled it backward with a round brush while blow-drying it, it might work much better.

I don't like the poof style that most tri-state girls sport. The tacky night club beehive look.

Isn't this poof style a bouffant?

i've been doing this since the early nineties...
just becuase it is what looks good on me...
and then it weirdly became trendy when one or both of the olsens started doing it a year or two ago....

even my friends commented on how weird it was...
so i don't necessarily like it on girls with lowcut shirts and fake tans...
but i still do it becuase it's just 'me'...

hopefully it's 'out' though so no one thinks i'm trying to look like an olsen...
:ninja:...
i cut bangs last year to avoid this actually......

My bf and I call this "the Elaine" b/c she always wore it on Seinfeld for the first few seasons.

I like the poof just as long as it isnt done too much where you look like an alien!

I love this look! I always call it a quiff, but it really suits me and works well for evening and day. My particular favourite is a quite un-done quiff, like at Luella:

Like a pompadour! LOVE that look, but only if it works with the face shape, and the style of the person wearing it.

I think every hair style can be done properly and not properly. girls in my town still wear it, and like a year ago you couldnt walk out on the street and not seeing everybodys hair like that, but now there are many variations of that style, with a pony tail, long straight hair, messy hair, semi-chignon, the options are endless and it can turn out pretty nice if worn with something that adds a an extra kick. if you have big hair, then wear something that completes the look, rather than looking simply and ordinary with you hair done in a trendy way as everybody else.

I'd call this a beehive, too. Here is some history on the subject. I don't think all that teasing and hairspray is very healthy, personally.

Some people take it to the extreme, however.

i would never take advice, on any kind, from amy winehouse, lol

There is a guide to a rockabilly style in this month's UK Vogue , I'll try and scan it in over the weekend.

I think it can work. . .for some people. They have to know how to do it right and have the right kind of, erm, I don't know just general look in order to pull it off.

A lot of the time it reminds me of the women who live on those crazy polygamist compounds like on Big Love.
