The Rise and Fall of Track Star Marion Jones

Ouch. But then she had it coming to her. Using steroids in athletics is just plain stupid. It'll screw you over in the end. I really do feel sorry for her relay teammates if they have to give their medals back because of her.

I have no doubt that athletes under the professional level are often free of "use". It's the top athletes (20-30 top) that I have doubts about. As you say, it must be very tempting...and there are new substances that are not yet disallowed that suddenly become disallowed.

sorry, what i meant was that when i was in college, i competed against people that were at marion's level...
i don't think most athletes cheat...i think the percentages of those that do are very low...
one of my good friends competed in the 2004 olympics and most recently in the world champs and he's been drug free...
what sucks is he's been hurt alot, which means he can't make money...but instead of trying a shortcut, he just rehabs and heals like normal...

yes, there are some who do cheat, but like zem and jml2 said, what sucks is those that competed against her and lost...
it ruins it for the honest people out there who compete and train cleanly...

I completely agree.

That's why I am not so impressed by the Olympics anymore...

i feel sorry for her- but i still admire her (belated) honesty and facing up to fans and authorities; that "sorry" must have been hard to say and i'm glad she said it.

I don't feel sorry for at all! She's only fessing up now because the Feds found out she lied.
