Miss60, I love the boots of the girl in the first picture. You said you have similar ones -- where did you get them?

dude, i wouldnt doubt if the reason was that youre too stylish! haha. jk
nice one!

the photoshopping thing is hysterical and reveals a LOT...
but that second youtube vid-the Myspace Elite...

well---i have to admit that i am totally impressed by these kids...
they take it to another level...
i knew kids like this when i used to go to clubs in the 80's...
but we didn't have the technology of computers, digi cams and the internet to play with so that seems completely amateur compared to this...

it's a little disturbing to see some people be SO self-involved...
but i have to admit that many of the images are very compelling...

thanks for the links...:flower:

I understand the parallel with club kids as they’re both part of youth subcultures privileging artifice and flamboyant marginality but I do believe there is a major difference. Club kids used to be a centralized phenomenon, as these eccentric types would come from all over the map and congregate towards some major cities to live the life, so to speak and form a tightly knit community (although there was much infighting). On the other end those “myspace elite” are part of a decentralized culture where kids participating could be from anywhere on the planet (most likely the western hemisphere) and their “real life” can be quite different from their “online persona” which means they do have the possibility and sometimes the obligation to keep their two lives separate. I would say they don’t have to “commit” the way club kids had to, as their freakish life is in all likelihood more of a pastime than a lifestyle. So less ODs and more Photoshop and msn chat. I guess the online world of internet 2.0 enables teenagers to try out different lifestyles and play act without the drawbacks usually associated with joining a specific subculture but in the end, it is quite easy to question the sincerity of people acting in such a way. Maybe I’m being romantic but having too many ways out smells of cop out to me. Damn kids blablablah when I was your age blablabla Kurt Cobain blablabla keeping it real blablabla :D

I'm sure some more things could be said about internet and especially 2.0 having made niche phenomenons accessible to anyone with an internet connection, I mean look at here we probably have members from the Midwest who buy the latest Comme Des Garçons online from Japanese retailers!!

Oh and thanks for the vids, I dug it too.

I love those flat boots...it's a classic and definitely wearable with almost anything!^_^

this is starting to suck so much. if all this was done the first or second time, it was cutting edge, cool, and original, and (at least in our area, east and north europe) a kind of a counterreaction to the "eurotrash" style.

now, nothing of the kind is original any more, just plain ugly like the god damned 9074390532 clones out there...
