Scene Queen Style

.. is TERRIBLE. It's practically impossible to describe how gross this is. The so-called "fashion" mullets, the overuse of Hello Kitty, the terrible hair colors and hair .. patterns , the tutus, and the rest of the endless list of trashy, unattractive trends that "Scene Queens" follow, while they reassure themselves that they are original. The clothes of these people are risky, perhaps, compared to the average person, but no indvidual following this style is any more original than anyone else who gives into a risky trend. The point is that this is still a trendy "style", and an outrageously hideous one at that.

Wow, this thread sure is getting a lot of hate.

I personally think it's kinda cute. I don't think I would ever dress like that or listen to sh*tty music like Panic!. (sorry to anyone who likes them!) I don't know if these girls are fake/bitchy in real life because I don't know them, but I actually love their hairstyles and such. It's fun to look at. Or maybe I'm warming up to it because the one with the pink hair reminds me of Gwen Stefani in her "simple kind of life" video. So what if their style can be described as somewhat immature? Atleast it's not uptight; I love the excess of it.

Of course it's not very "original", but what is original in today's fashion/trends?

ooo. i just went to a show last night. TONS of scene kids. i was the only not wearing skinny jeans. ballet flat sneakers, wearing five pounds of eye makeup or have dyed hair. not to be vain or anything...but i think the guys thought it refreshing that at least one girl didnt look so made up. its no wonder that most of the band members talked to me and none of the scene chicks...
i mean...if they're thinking its impressing the boys...no way...

I don't really like the scene fashion (heavy make up ahh!), and the information provided was presented in a biased manner, but maybe some things don't really have a positive side to it. I like the mullets though :] jac vanek's to be specific.

How is it pathetic? How can a fashion style be pathetic anyways? That's ridiculous to say.

Ok, so I can't say that I like that style but... in my opinion the whole style is quite original and creative... I mean all this forms, and colors, and huge amount of accesories... not everyone could pull that off!
If I was a teen I'd definitely find it a fun style... yet ugly and trashy! lol

I find it refreshing this trend has been purely created on the streets .. but still at big ott and over done now .. so now to be "new" its more extreme then ever .. my little brother is mostly friends with girls and they all dress like this i think its cute in a way tbh

Although maybe im biased sitting here with my nose stud, septum ring (still debating weather or not to keep it) my dyed dark dark chocolate brown hair with bright neon blue extentions in ( im a nateral blonde) with all my eyeliner and black glittery eye shaddow caked on, .. now reading this friend im scared stiff i look scene gonna take my extentions out tomorrow i thinks :( :(

its weird...cuz there are some hardcore real chicks that dye their hair because it is their style to be that way, which is awesome and cool,( i wanted to get a septum too...) but then you can always see a difference between the girls who are different to the ones who are TRYING to be different...i dont know if that makes any sense. there are girls who kind of look "scene" but really arent...because they probably started dying their hair YEARS before this trend came out.
its like the opposite end of the fake blonde hair, boobs, and preppy style trend, but still the same concept of complete fakeness.

I just think you have to have the right personality to be able to pull this look off. Pity it's becoming the mainstream now... as in, the mainstream against the mainstream.

It's cute! Not as dark as the gothic, but more interesting than the 'band scene' look, both of which was big in the late 80s-early 90s. This look is a spin-off from those times, it's very Gen-X! The 80s are back, after all!

I totally agree.

I don't know why this threat is getting so much hate. Okay, so it's not for everyone, but if you go to any indie/emo/pop-punk show, you'll see that everyone is dressed like that. Even if you don't like it, you can't say that it's not a trent.

I really like it. Especially Hanna Beth ^_^ Audrey Kitching is becoming a bit boring. But I absolutely dislike those teenagers who are trying to be a scenequeen with too much make up, ugly extensions and everything :ninja: oh and Kiki Kannibale looks soooo trashy.

i think the main reason this gets a lot of hate is because the wearers seem to think it is *different*, *unique*, and "individual* - when in reality - well, it's not any of those things. ok, so, it's fun, flirty, quite daring and can be extreme - but it sure as hell doesn't make you an individual. i think lots of viewers of this trend assume that the wearers assume they are being different - and we find it frustrating. i certainly can't assume that the wearers DO actually think this.... although it certainly seems that way. does that make sense? lol

Half my high school seems to think that they're "Scene Queens" and it is usually accompanied with a snobby attitude.

Yeah that makes sense now. I thought it was just the /fashion/ of it that was getting all the hate, and I don't think it's /that/ vulgar!

I really cannot stand this style, sub-culture etc. They all look like radioactive kids on speed.

these girls are SO fob!!!! it's so trash asia
they will LOVE shopping in china. im in shenzhen right now...there are so many pieces they will love
poor chanel

I think I missed this generation. I dont see hordes of people with this style now though obv this whole look has been around forever... didnt realize it had picked up enough momentum to be considered a "trend"
