Thank you for the info *karma*

Too bad they ended it, I was hoping to go there this summer... Now I have to find some other cool NY club. :flower: But where does the Misshapes crowd go these days?

I liked their style and I have a hard time finding a proper replacement... But perhaps I should get the book then!

No problem Njalle and thanks for the karma. :) BTW, your name means bear right? hehe

Fairy: Thanks for the info! Good to know where to go if Im ever coming to NY (I really want to). :)

the MisShapes website goes up again today (apparently)
hopefully this means there'll be more photos from the events they hold on the odd occasion....

anyone feel like scene style is getting a bit stale? in london its all high waisted bandage skirts, plaid shirts and 'ironic' eyewear. there hasn't been anything new for a while now.

I can't see how anything can be new now.
I feel Like everything has been said and done now.
Each up for each generation to take it now and make it their own.
But we, they- will always been compared to and type casted

there is never anything new. it's funny to see people TRY and make stuff new, but at this point in time, everything in the world has been thought off. interesting. we're all just copies of someone a couple decades ago... i was a free-lovin hippie for sure.

williamsburg is an area in brooklyn where a lot of the scene/hipster kids live now...

I wouldn't say its dying out. I havn't been impressed with Mark's photos lately. But the scene will never die. There are many generations to go through it lol

i think it's gunna die soon. i was surprised at even how much emo music is fading. my brothers band's label is trying to turn them more bro rock because the emo scene is dyyyying!

I love how the last message was "It's gonna die soon" and then bang 9 months later a new comment lol

^hahhahaha

I hope this stays true because I hate this style so much

I probably shouldn't be posting

:cry:I don't know if it's just my imagination but it feels like 'hipster' trends are being co-opted by the mainstream more and more quickly these days, so that it feels as if there isn't much difference between scene/hipster styles and high street fashion. I find this kind of depressing! I remember discovering scene style as a teenager and finding it so exciting and different. Now it just feels fake, over-the-top or indistinguishable from whatever's being pushed this week at Urban Outfitters. I don't mean to suggest that it was all original and idyllic before. It was conformist in its own way - there were some very defined accessories that made you feel different and yet very clearly signified your 'membership'... But it just doesn't feel like that anymore. There's such a cacophony of trends and none of them feel exciting. Or maybe I'm just too old and jaded. I feel really nostalgic for the good old days when a pair of skinny jeans, chucks, oversized sunnies, vintage beads and blazer complete with band badges made me feel cool. :(
