The Shu Uemura Makeup Thread

I went to a Shu Uemura concession in utter frustration the other day after spending a fortune on Laura Mercier and ending up with a cakey, miserable face covered in red spots and shine (thanks silk creme foundation!). I bought the face architect liquid foundation, which I got in a very pale shade, so pale it's almost too pale, which is rare for me as NC15 is way too brown on my skin. I also bought the loose powder, which is really finely milled, the mousse uv protecting mattifying base, and the deep sea face spritz. A wonderful bunch of products! The foundation is my favourite, it really does cover all manner of uneven skin tone and blotchy patches. Very happy!

anyone try the velvet adjusting compact foundie? any comparison with chanel mat lumiere?

kind of off-topic, but can someone please tell me the correct pronunciation of UEMURA? :D i've been pronouncing it as yoo-mura for the past 2 years until i heard someone pronounce it as ooh-ye-mura. help?

it's ooh-e-moo-ra

"ra" sounds like "la" but you sorta curl your tongue...

I havent tried any Shu Uemura makeup but their kolinsky brushes are the absolute best, I wish they did them in more sizes. They are way better than MAC and completely worth the price. I actually just realized I lost one of mine today  I hope maybe it my brothers car when I was touching up my makeup there. Their false eyelashes are also the best although I only have a few pairs since the ones I want are always sold out on their site and on sephora.

Does anybody know a website that ships Shu Uemura to Australia? I'm dying to try their Pleasure of Japanese Cherry Blossom Bath Oil...

The price is absolutely insane! But I'm going to buy it and see whether it really is worth it ^_^ I've heard no complaints so far regarding the kolinsky brushes.

Belowen.. not a website but you can do mail orders via phone to their Covent Garden (London) boutique 0207 240 7635 - if you do.. let me know if they are having a sale..

I just bought the Shu Uemura Glow on Blush in Orange! I just love it!
They're foundation brushes are fantastic as well! I'm yet to find a brush that beats Shu Uemura's!!
Belowen, they stock Shu Uemura in David Jones in Melbourne and Sydney ...

this may be a bit of a stupid question, but I'm not accustomed to wearing false lashes. How many applications does one pair last? [Do you use them only once, and throw them out?]
Thanks! :flower:

just tried and am quite pleased with these products, Face Architect foundation and the UV Underbase.

if you take care of them, you can get up to about 15 uses.

Wow, I just got an order in of their cosmetics. I got blush, lipstick, and some eyeshadow. The quality is fantastic. The colors are so flattering, too, just so beautiful. I am amazed that I didn't wear any sort of base and my eyeshadow didn't crease all night!

^ That's the whole reason I never purchased it again. But I have to say, it did smell incredibly amazing!

Hi everyone as a makeup artists I always tent to look for different makeup brushes, so I went to their web site and I found out that they have the so called Kolinsky hair brushes and they retail for almost $300.00 I was like WTF is wrong with this people, but to make the story short the animal is an endangered specie from North China, Japan and Siberia, is really sad that this company is doing this, so I just want everyone to know  don't get their Kolinsky brushes :(

I have several kolinsky brushes and didnt know they are endangered, but they dont have to skin the animal for brushes do they? Dont they just brush them?

I really don't about the process of getting their hair but for me is just more than enough to know that they are endanger and I will not pay that much money and make someone else rich who know what's really behind their brand.
