The Strokes

I'm speechless... Especially because I thought their album was almost ready, that everything was fine, despite Albert being on rehab. I thought all I had to do was waiting until next year, but now I have to hope they will stay together.

ckgirlbr - and we thought we had only pete and carl to worry about:cry:

i've already listened to demo versions of barely legal, someday, take it or leave it, etc, but i had no idea about this version of you only live once:huh:

and this is a really cute video someone made with scenes from marie antoinette...

I've listened to I'll Try Anything Once, found it a bit weird  And I totally loved the fact they're on Marie Antoinette soundtrack :shifty:

^me too. i love the way she runs in that scene. it fits the rhythm perfectly.

Wha??? I'll Try Anything Once is so beautiful.

And, guys, stop worrying. Since when do bands *not* disagree on songs? You take 5 opinionated men, put them in a band together, and expect them to not argue? And even more so since they've known each other for years (or most of their lives in Julian and Nikolai's case) and won't hold back on saying, "No."

They're also on Click (Someday ) soundtrack, I didn't notice then I watched the movie :ninja:

The Strokes' 'Is This It' named NME's album of the decade
The Strokes' 'Is This It' has been voted the best album of the past decade in the new issue of NME magazine, out tomorrow (November 18).

The 2001 debut album by the New York band was voted top of the pile by a panel of musicians, producers, writers and record label bosses.

The Libertines' 2002 debut album 'Up The Bracket' was voted second in the run-down, while Primal Scream's 'Xtrmntr' came third. Arctic Monkeys were fourth with their 2006 debut 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'.
Full list here.

There's also an article about how they shapped indie in the noughties.

i never take nme's lists seriously and this is no exception, but is this it and up the bracket are definitely two of the best albums of the decade.

This is It is a great record. I thought it was gonna be muse or The Libs or them, I'm not surprised that they gave it to them.

I agree Karen, I thought NME would have picked the Libs over them, glad they gave the number 1 slot to the Strokes though. Fab & Albert went to see Julian perform last week, it's good to know they are all in touch and hopefully we'll be getting in the studio in early 2010 as planned.
