she does indeed look fuller on the pics. specially the upper arms .
am really curious now!

Haha yes. I'm thinking maybe they went easier b/c she plead guilty? I'm no law student, but I don't understand why that makes a difference...

It does make a difference. It's not like the judge will automatically give you a shorter sentence if you plead guilty, but he will take it into account - the fact that you say you realised you've done something wrong.

the fact that the charges they were facing were completely different factored in too. a lot of people seem to forget that paris only received probation for her dui - the 45 day jail sentence stemmed not from the dui, but from twice violating her probation. so frankly, nicole's 4 day sentence for her dui was harsher than what paris got for her dui. now if nicole violates her additional 3 years probation, she faces up to a year in jail, whereas paris' maximum sentence for violating her probation was 45 days.

yes, nicole probably would have gotten more time if she'd gone the paris route - pleading guilty, not showing up for court, arriving at sentencing 20 minutes late, blaming everything on her rep, etc. but the crimes they were on trial for when jail time was issued are completely different to begin with.

This is a novel concept!
When Nicole Richie goes to jail later this summer - she’s supposed to start serving her four day sentence before the end of September - she’ll have to pay for her time behind bars out of her own pocket.
Good!
Richie also has to enroll in a drug and alcohol program - and she has to pay a fine of over $2,000.
If Nicole violates the terms of her probation, she could a year in jail.
Girlfriend (and mom-to-be) better be on her best behavior!

Nicole Richie finally tells the world: "Yes, I am. We are. I'm almost four months."

In an exclusive sit-down with Diane Sawyer, the celebutante talks for the first time about the impending birth of her child with Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden.

ABC says in the interview, which airs on "Good Morning America" Thursday and Friday and on "20/20" Friday night, Richie "speaks candidly about why this particular constellation of young female stars -- Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, among others -- have behaved badly so publicly." She should know!

As for her upcoming stint in the slammer, Richie told Sawyer, "I have a responsibility and it's something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person that has lost a loved one from drunk driving I would," she said of her recent guilty plea. "And unfortunately I can't, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult."

WOW!
i actually secretly thought it wasnt true!
congrats to her!

She always wanted kids, yes? Good for her either way.
I don't think her and Joel will last, maybe they will but...Hilary must be very upset.

I'm still praying she is playing a joke on us and will come out with a new pomeranian in nine months.

This is f-ed up...I feel so bad for Hilary...ughhh...I'm sorry but just wow...

Hopefully she can get it together...

Nicole Richie also sat down with OK! Magazine for her “I Could Have Killed Someone” cover story. Here are the highlights:
On this past year: “I don’t consider it one of the worst. I think this was a blessing in disguise. This year has been full of lessons learned and soul-searching. … I will be really happy once I have done my jail time. I can start fresh.”
On feeling remorse: “I was watching CNN about a month ago, and they happened to be talking about young people driving under the influence. They were flashing little kids (on the screen) who were killed by drunk drivers, and it broke my heart. It was a big wake-up call.”
On her sentence: “It was a fair, standard sentence. I expected that.”
On comparisons with Paris’s sentence: “We weren’t charged with the same thing. We had different judges. This isn’t a popularity contest, and it’s not up to people to compare my case with Paris’.”
On why she was on a painkiller when she was arrested: “I have really bad menstrual cramps.”
On if she has taken drugs since December: “No.”
On her favorite foods: “Sushi. I’m not sure how great that is for me. I also love pizza; I’m a junk-food eater by nature.”

I love how the last question has no relation.

She comes across really well in that interview (to me, at least). :flower:
