A pregnant Nicole Richie was rushed to the hospital after she began excessively bleeding. The “Simple Life” star feared she was having a miscarriage.

Richie announced she was four months pregnant with ‘Good Charlotte’ frontman Joel Madden’s baby. The 25-year-old, who was rumored to have an eating disorder, insisted that she began eating more for the health of her and the baby. But after Richie noticed bleeding and rushed to the hospital, doctors encouraged her to eat more. The doctors reportedly said the socialite was suffering from nutritional deficiency.

Doctors reassured Richie that her baby was safe, but encouraged her to give the baby more nutrition. “Nicole was bleeding so much; it was really scary for her. They found out she’s suffering from both a hormonal and nutritional deficiency,” a source said.

As for that one problem, that little viral problem, the friendship with Hollywood Ebola - there are 2 ways you can break up with a friend.

The first is full on drama and name-calling, cussing each other out, asking others to take sides, posting hateful messages on Facebook and MySpace. Don’t even bother telling you don’t know what I mean.

The second is a more pragmatic approach: for whatever reason you’ve outgrown your friend. Or in Nicole’s case, she’s done with Paris Hilton’s toxic influence and wants to protect her child from Ebola infection.

Paris being Paris, the diseased twat that she is, the uglier the better. The nastier the situation, the more she thrives, the more she uses the situation to her advantage.

But if Nicole doesn’t feed it, if Nicole simply tolerates her, gives back the bare minimum without too much risk or participation, Paris has no room to manoeuvre, no story to spin, no attention to seek. Which is why Paris so happily answered the other day when asked about Nicole’s pregnancy, eager for any opportunity to bask in the spotlight on someone else’s back. She told People Magazine Nicole will be the best mom ever.

Nicole meanwhile has kept her distance.

Despite jail, I still hear Paris is just as invovled in her other activities that come with the club world.

Looks like Nicole Richie's baby won't be born out of wedlock after all!
Sources who attended the Hot 99.5 concert last night featuring Good Charlotte at the Clarendon Ballroom tell us Joel told the crowd he had just proposed to his jail-bound baby mama on Thursday. Congrats!

TMZ contacted Richie's rep to confirm the good news ... but haven't heard back yet.
