i hope it's alright if i join in. if not, just disregard it.
i always feel like delicacy is lost in galliano's design. to me, it's very blunt. it's very harsh, and it's very over the top. he uses different mediums well [an aspect i love], but the strident colors are so overpowering that i turn up my nose. so, by keeping dior's s/s 2007 ctr asian inspired detailing, i tried to create something that implemented what i felt was lacking [very, very lady-like, elegant and dainty touches] all the while staying true to what i commonly saw throughout the collection. hope it works!
the entirety is made of an ivory chiffon, but to make it interesting, there are tucks and layers. two large bubbling pockets on either hip, although mostly unusable due to the transparency of the fabric, give it depth as does the tucking under the optional sash just below the breasts which happens to be brown chiffon, the only dyed fabric. the entire dress has 3 layers of the ivory chiffon. at the end of the sleeves and bottom 3/4 of the dress, the deepest layer is the longest, followed by the middle layer and then the top layer that is the shortest. the middle layer, on the bottom, has a very light print on it resembling the plant of the hair piece in green and brown. if you squint, maybe you can see the color.
so there's that.
p.s. sorry the picture is crappy. i don't have a scanner so i had to take a picture of it with a digital camera.
i used this as inspiration for the hair piece as well as the plant design on the middle layer of the bottom 3/4 of the dress.
