I have to agree with the others... this photo caught my eye for its well-framed composition, adherence to the theme, color palette, and dynamism. Great work!
I gave some thought to what the next theme should be and decided that it should focus around any subject matter that makes you appreciate what you have and where you are in your life. I assume that the vast majority of us on this forum are middle class as we have the luxury of computers, internet access, and the ability to place some priority on fashion.
The image should not be specific to you, meaning that it should instill the feeling of appreciation and gratitude to the majority of folks who might view it. I think this will be an assignment that will lend some challenges and will require you to really think about what you're trying to capture. Here are some images I've taken to give you some idea of what I mean:
BTW, I don't expect all shots to be of homeless people. Images that immediately come to mind are things like elderly folks dining alone, migrant day workers on street corners looking for work, misery in a bar, single mothers with way too much to handle, individuals with disabilities, and the list goes on. Also, feel free to be more light hearted with your images - people with extremely bad outfits could potentially fit into this theme!
Wonderful theme! It trains us to look at those less fortunate, than concentrate on those more fortunate & be grateful with what we have been blessed with. Gotta ponder some.
So I think that these contests are only supposed to last a week but we only have 4 entries. Should I just select a winner and move on or wait for more pics?
Congrats Ryan! We had some good shots this go 'round but I thought that Ryan's shot of the little Sapa girl best captured the spirit of the theme. Dirty, face, no shoes, un-paved floor, and a box of crayons with no paper in sight - I, for one, am grateful for everything I have.
Actually, I even feel a little guilty for shopping today and buying a pair of vintage looking Nikes...
