Just figured that my blouse will be way too small for how I want to wear it.. the model was a US 6 and I've ordered a US 2.. Oh snap.
People were saying over at the purse forum that if you missed the UK sale you can get onto the US sale through a link.. not sure if it will work though and people are shouting at people willing to post links!

rosalynn, thanks I'll get my hands on these shoes in the other life probably..
but congrats about your shoes! the are great!
so, i guess now we will be waiting for the same birthday present from net-a-porter.com?

This sale was such a mess.
Can't they have a sale without crashing down ?

I managed to order this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress, I just pray it fits!!

Websites always crash when they do these sort of things. Hazard of the traffic on them I suppose.

The more I look at the Rick Owen's thing I bought, the odder it actually is. Ha. There were a fair few of certain items, such as the Chloe sunglasses it would seem, and quite a few items had a number of sizes... can't really grumble when it's all a £1 can you. I have tried ringing their customer service number however to change the address that my order gets dispatched too and the call centre's down, it tells you to e-mail as they're just too busy to operate the customer services department!

Congrats to those who managed to buy something. I don't know how you managed it however! Two and a half hours of firstly trying to access the site, then trying to get onto an item page, to be told every single time it was sold out. Very frustrating and disappointing not to have gotten hold of one single thing after all that time! :(

The outnet USA sale is on! I REALLY want a link to see if I can purchase

we tried for hours and hours and by the time we finally got through fully it was over
everytime we tried to get through nothing was one pound though.. very strange.

This whole thing was nothing but frustrating. I got the mail at 8.43 this morning and had to leave for University at 8.50, so I only had 7 minutes to try and get anything but I couldn't even get on the website. Sucks. Would have died for a Rick Owens jacket or a Missoni item. But there's always very few lucky ones with these things, it's such a gamble.

Omg typical, it now lets me sign me only to show a "The £1 sale is closed" heading

Guys, keep trying! Not everything is sold out yet! After two hours of trying I managed to score this Rachel Roy blouse that was originally £395!

There was an amazing, amazing Phillip Lim dress but it was sold out, along with tons of other stuff I put in my basket ! I was hoping for a dress but I LOVE this blouse! At first I was too picky and kept going through stuff but it all sold out. Some people are doing stuff like sending links or something but I don't understand that, good luck to everything if your in the UK don't give up!

That's BEAUTIFUL - it - you're very lucky!!!! :D

Oh my goodness, I am in awe of those who managed to buy something. Congratulations!

I was awake before 6am this morning and had no luck whatsoever. I'm going to bed now to catch some much-needed sleep (and cry about the Chloe sunglasses I lost from my basket five times!).

Congratulations again to all those lucky to snatch a bargain!

For those asking for links, unfortunately the sale was an RSVP thing, so you wouldn't have been able to buy anything anyway :(

But wow, sounds like the North America Outnet sale sold out even faster than the UK one. Lots of website crashing which was so frustrating, the amount of server errors I got, and then refreshed and the contents of my basket had sold out.

But in the end I was pretty lucky to get those wedges. I kept seeing them on Outnet last year and was kinda "shall I?" and although they were probably my 10th choice today, I'm really pleased.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else got!

Nope the RSVP was just to get the link to the sale - if you had the link and weren't on RSVP, you'd still have been able to buy things.

I was at dinner just as the US sale started! I literally walked through the doors of the resturant and my sister was like 'it's started!!' and we were desperatly trying to get to the site on our crappy phones, but no luck - everything we had a link for was sold out :(

I'm happy I scored one thing though from the UK sale, even though I don't particulary like it myself (the Michael Kors cheetah brocade dress). Hopefully I'll be able to sell it.

Oh really? I assumed that they would be able to tell which accounts had RSVP'd and which hadn't at checkout.

The Outnet is a poorly managed site in general. For some reason, it says my password is incorrect (even though I use the same password for everything). So then I ask them to send me an email so I can reset my password yet I never get it. I want to change my account settings to the UK from the US site so I get the proper updates but I can never even log in. Bleurgh.

Oh, possibly... I'm not sure. My sister wasn't RSVP'd for the US site (nor did she participate in the UK one) but she and I both registered to the US site just after the UK one ended and were able to access some peices that were $1 from links that were posted on tpf & other sites, and I'd imagine we'd have been able to purchase them too simply because we could access them (except we didn't :doh: US sold out in lightning speed!).

Apparently there were a few people who bought more than one item on checkout... but Outnet later cancelled some of their items.

Anyway, here's a statement from Outnet regarding the sale

Hello everyone, I am Stephanie, Director of theOutnet. I wanted to personally say that we have been listening to all your comments. First and most importantly, I want to say sorry for the frustrating experience that many of you had. You have shown incredible interest in our site today and we do not take that lightly. Clearly, while we were prepared for the volume of traffic the sale would deliver, in some markets, the UK mainly, we were overwhelmed by the speed at which you came to the site this morning. This remarkable volume –up to 9 orders a second - led the site to crash for many of you, and I want to say that we are very sorry to all those who didn’t get to buy anything at the sale, but delighted for the thousands of lucky ones amongst you that did walk away with a £1/$1 bargain from theOutnet. We want to thank all of you for being part of our first year celebrations. With each event we are working hard to fix issues that arise, and want to say that we fully intend to offer you further bargain shopping opportunities in the future. Thank you again, Stephanie”

A few facts about the sale:
  • We hosted two first birthday pop-up sales today – one on our international website which started at 07:24 GMT and another separate sale for North America with new $1 stock that went live at 06:45 EST with an email going out as soon as each sale went live.
  • To shop either of our sales, you needed to have RSVP’d by April 11th, being registered on the website alone did not qualify you for entry into the sale.
Only items within the 1st birthday pop up sale were available for £1/$1, everything else on site was at its normal discounted price.
  • Anyone who was identified as having bought multiple items had their additional orders cancelled and these items were immediately made available again to be purchased by other customers.
  • We had anticipated the volume of traffic that we would get as a result of the sale. However, we did not anticipate the speed in which this traffic would hit us – up to 9 orders per second – which is why the website crashed for many of you.
  • Customer service is very importance to us. We have listened and will continue to listen and take on board all of your comments so that we can provide a better shopping experience in future.

  • Oh, and one more thing, we promised that there would be a Golden Ticket winner. Sophie from Washington State USA was able to pick 5 items from the sale for $5.

Congrats to the lucky ones... If something like this ever happens again, I'm staying awake. I set my alarm for random intervals and finally awoke half an hour too late, at which point there were only a few items that sold out a few seconds later. I thought I was in the "safe zone" and vastly overshooting the earliness, but I was wrong...

well done to anyone who actually got something for 1$. I overslept and clearly it was all gone by that time...
