theOutnet.com

The Outnet is a poorly managed site in general. For some reason, it says my password is incorrect (even though I use the same password for everything). So then I ask them to send me an email so I can reset my password yet I never get it. I want to change my account settings to the UK from the US site so I get the proper updates but I can never even log in. Bleurgh.

Perhaps try to register for the US site seperately? I have a UK account, but it never let me log in to the US site nor buy from there (it would say my login/password are wrong). So today I made a new US account (different email to the one I used to register for UK, but same details), and although I haven't bought anything from the US site yet, I can at least login :flower:

^Excactly what happened to me, I switched sites but when It prompted me to log in again it would say incorrent email/password. I signed up to the US site with a different email adress and it seems to be working okay now

I got the email straight away this morning, but never managed to connect to the server. Very disappointed

I just don't want to set up another email account just for the outnet. It seems ridiculous that they don't let you log into the UK site with the US account.

i missed the sale. because i was at work.

********. don't they know people have jobs and school?

I was 1 hour late and everything was gone! Y'all fashun monsters!

Nope the RSVP was just to get the link to the sale - if you had the link and weren't on RSVP, you'd still have been able to buy things.

I was at dinner just as the US sale started! I literally walked through the doors of the resturant and my sister was like 'it's started!!' and we were desperatly trying to get to the site on our crappy phones, but no luck - everything we had a link for was sold out :(

I'm happy I scored one thing though from the UK sale, even though I don't particulary like it myself (the Michael Kors cheetah brocade dress). Hopefully I'll be able to sell it.

You scored a Michael Kors Dress
Great
But you won't be wearing it?
Great
I tried to check out the same Allegra Hicks dress 8 times
I really would have loved that
But the page kept crashing because people were checking out meaningless items
Only
YOU
Get a Michael Kors dress you're not even interested in
To sell it at a profit?
I would have thought from TFS there would be some pleasurable, happy buys
But perhaps it was just people wanting a profit
Oh sweetheart
That's pretty rubbish

Meg i thought i was the only one! re: having an account and outnet.com not accepting my password. I thought it was because i hadn't bought anything for a while (which actually makes no sense so dumbo to me) but I keep getting outnet update emails for that account. A few weeks ago i really wanted something so just abandoned that account and signed up on a separate email account. And then i realised the US/UK don't use the same account so I had to use a third email. I only have three emails. I wouldn't have bothered if i'd had to have set up a new email, that's for sure.

MsCrow I can understand your frustration. I bet ebay is chocker block with outnet products. But *Bianca* you should keep it. It's nice!

honestly, i think getting something through this sale would have been like a gift from the fashion gods.

but, like all gods, it was capricious and random. so why fuss about it?

True, it is extra trouble. But if you do decide to make a new email account - you could set it up so it forwards all their mail to your usual emal address.

I am astounded by the number of people who have emailed through my blog about this debacle.

They had the same frustrating experience even though a great many were awake when the invitation arrived and sleepily checking their email every two seconds!

I think it's fantastic that the Outnet have issued an explanation but it seems to lack logic. If they knew how many people had been invited, why were they surprised by the speed with which customers placed their orders? Did they think that we only wanted to come to window shop?

I understand you're frustrated, but taking it out on me is completely inappopriate. I never thought I would have to justify to anyone why I bought something from a £1 designer sale.

As I'm in Australia, the time difference meant that the sale started during my afternoon (which was in my favor), but I devoted at least 5 hours to the sale, from refreshing my email every minute, to checking the forums (tpf, vogue) for any news, finding links to items on the site pre-sale that were already marked down to £1, refreshing those pages constantly incase the sale had started but my email was late (which was the case, so good thing I was refreshing), then the absolute craziness of the site crashing when the sale actually started.

There were two items I was particulary after - an absolutely gorgeous Chloe dress, and a Burberry dress. I tried far more than 8 times to get into their pages and once I finally did - and I even got so close as to get to my checkout with the Burberry one - they were sold out. I even postponed my birthday dinner to two hours later because I was so determined to make all this time worthwhile and buy something.

When I finally got a page to work, I clicked into the MK dress, and by that point, when I saw it was available, I was so flustered that without even thinking about it, I put it into my cart and checked out. Many others did this exact thing. I was SO excited that I had managed to buy the dress, but unforunately after spending time considering it properly, I really don't know if I'd wear it - the size is very small, which may be a problem, and I don't think the cut (sleeves particulary) would be flattering on my body. I will obviously decide what I'm going to do once I get the chance to try it on. But if it doesn't fit nor look good, I don't see the point of keeping it at the back of my wardrode collecting dust, when someone else may want it?

I obviously don't plan to sell it at a high price! Nor was I thinking Ebay: I was going to see if any of my friends wanted to buy it, or would swap for it. So your insinuation that I only bought something from this sale to gain a profit is completely and utterly wrong. You make me out to be some evil person who buys stock in bulk from sales and resells it. Unlike most people on this forum, I've never even once sold an item of clothing on ebay before.

That, and your insinuation that I contributed to the site crashing by looking at 'meaningless' items. I could just as well blame YOU for causing the site to crash which resulted in me not being able to get the Chloe or Burberry dress.

I consider myself very lucky to have been able to purchase a dress from this sale, even with my efforts. My sister put in the same amount of effort and hours, but walked away with nothing.

I am as equally bummed as everyone that I didn't get anything from the $1 sale.
But the fact that I woke up at 8am PST 5 hours after the start of the sale, certainly didn't help either
Like quimby, I agree it's a matter of fashion karma whether you end up getting something from the sale or not.
So let's move on...I'll like to hear if anyone else got anything from the sales??? :flower:

I hear you on this, it was very stressful, the dress I was trying to check out wasn't perfect but I would have taken it to a tailor to get it shortened.

I was going to see if any of my friends wanted to buy it, or would swap for it.

Great, that's nice to hear

No, and apologies for replying to your post in particular. I've gotten totally fed up with the many comments I've seen about the sale. Some people who were lucky enough to buy, bought things they didn't care for, or bragged about getting 2 or 3 items. Their prerogative but totally not in the spirit. Someone somewhere else, though, might have loved it and didn't get a chance.

My diatribe is directed not just at the Outnet silliness but more about the growing mentality there is about any sale (though particularly clothes) where the discount and the 'getting' of something has become more important. I'm thinking of the H&M Stella McCartney opening which was a riot, shameful behaviour...only to see so many items ending up on ebay within 2 hours. There's no pleasure or camaraderie any more, it's each one for themselves.

i got this jovovich-hawk dress:

was after a certain chloe or luella dress but by the time i tried to put them in my cart they were sold out :( i'm happy i got something though; this was one of the few times insomnia has come in handy, heh. just hoping it won't be too big..

^That's so lovely! Hoping my blouse comes soon, it's not yet dispatched but I don't mind waiting!

I got an e-mail to say my item had been dispatched on Friday afternoon, so I'm hoping it'll get it Monday!

I am so annoyed. I had managed to sign in, and was SO close to a Chloe clutch and the :censored: server went down. Urgh.

I was tracking my item yesterday and it was supposed to be at London-Heathrow (airport?). I thought it would take more than 2 working days to get here because of Iceland's vulcano and closed airports but I just checked it again and it's already in Germany.:woot:
