Thom Browne Menswear

A 0 is tiny...like I would say a 0 would fit my 11 year old brother.
Can you please post a picture of yourself and your stats?

175cm x 51 kg. Your 11 yo brother's stats perhaps ^_^

Oh and it wasn't a suit, it was a pair of shorts. Don't know if that's matter. They also had a suit in a special wool (I guess that's what they call "tropical wool" no?) but it wasn't made for me.

Sorry for that, but I don't find that to be a particularly 'fresh' look - I think it's a little too retro, a little too contrived to wear your bottoms pronounced as that with the long tennis socks, unless you are indeed an 11-year old boarding school boy.

I am mostly missing a forward-thinking touch to his menswear, it might have been updated in the proportions, but it still is a very 'referenced' aesthetic that he has. The women's are looking a lot better than what I have previously seen on women that have simply 'borrowed' from his menswear line - It's masculine tailoring, but doesn't look just like a sized-down version of his signature pieces. I was expecting it to look a lot more boxy and tomboy-ish.

Thom puts his humor out there, I can appreciate that. There's even a slight camp factor but for the most part I like it. However, it is a look that can easily become a costume if not worn right.

It seems that Banana Republic's new higher end line is "inspired by" Mr. Browne.

They're so useless...

SoCal, could ou please give me the price list of the following TB pieces: the bow tie, the cardi (I guess it was 1.something K no?), and the armbands?

His accessoiries are quite well priced, but I still wonder how I'll manage to^pick up some. I guess Bergdorf won't ship to France...

Well the armbands were only sold in red/white/blue in the Tribeca store, some retailers had the black ones. The one's I have were a set of 2 for $250. The bowtie is $150 as is the price for most of his regular ties as well. The cardigan was $2,300.
There are some cashmere scarves for winter that run $1200, the mittens I bought are $350, a long "sleeping" stocking cap for $850, waffle knit scarves for $850.

I'm a SF lurker only. I haven't considered posting pictures of myself, but that's something I may do in a couple of monthes...

Prices are correct, in the H range (except the suits which are almost what a French taylor would ask for semi m-t-m). I'm willing to buy armbands but I don't know if he'll resissued them. In black of course, being french, I can't pull the b/w/r ones ^_^
As for his cashmere, I guess you're talking about the cream or grey scarves with three white bands. Again, hope he'll re-do some for this winter. I'll seriously try, this time, to buy a good amount of pieces, but ordering in the us is my only solution, unless he opens something more in Paris...

(I'll also try to grab some pieces from last winter - didn't knew him then - like grey wool socks, ties, shorts, and maybe a long cream coat - this one is not likely to be sold on ebay, but dreaming is free)

Well can't you get to Collette or even to 10 Corso Como in Milan or Luisa via Roma in Florence?

The armbands won't be re-done becuase they were a S/S thing only. There are 2 scarves...the more expensive one is a thicker knit cashmere in black or grey with 3 white bands (like the other ones from last Fall; but, much longer) or a wider, flat waffle knit with 3 bands and some trim.

I haven't seen any; but, there might be some grey cashmere socks with a pom pom on the back.

I wouldn't get my hopes too high up about finding things on eBay.

There's nothing at Colette (where I've bought/tried on stuff), because it's a very iny shop stocking 23434 brands.
IfI have to travel, I prefer coming to NYC... but I won't do so before next summer (will go to his shop)

Believe it or not, I've seen oxfords on ebay, and a pinguin tailcoat!

Okay, so I went to the trunk show/preview and met Thom today. I wore my FL 05 navy blazer w/ white constrast stitching and he said "Nice jacket", helped me put on a few coats, talked about a few things. I try to pry him for info about the Harry Winston watches...wouldn't get the price, lots of stones ("tasteful"), I said a $ of about $30k and he had a "a lot more than that chuckle", goign to debut in about 4-6 weeks in Tokyo.
All in all I think the line will do fairly well since the pricing really isn't what people made it out to be. The fit is great and really different than Thom's...more classic, wearable American with an updated fit that still harkens back with some nostalgia.
As per the customers...I think the core will actually be a "new" Brooks Brother's customer who isn't stodgy old BB and who isn't forward TB and kind of plays it safe with fashion. The BB and the TB client I feel will use Black Fleece to "supplement" or add some touches to their current wardrobe. On the BB customer end they can get something "fun and fashiony" and on the TB end I can go and get some "Americana" or for example in this debut a herringbone quilted wool vest that was in FL06 that you missed out on buying then.
The women's stuff is AMAZING. I love the use of astrakhan that he has in some jackets and dresses. Also, for $1500 the wool herringbone dress is a fan-f*cking-tastic buy that I want all of my friends to get. Seriously...get in there in 2 weeks when it rolls out!

Here is one of the scarves from this F/W Belletrst

Very nice. One other funny thing I'm eying is his socks suspenders (I useto wear them when I was doing... ice skating competition!)

I've never found this exact form of garters anymore after I leaved the ice skating federation, the only one i've seen have shorter links.

That jacket looks amazing. I've been trying to find some of these Thom Browne Fall/Winter 06 trousers but I think I may be a tad bit late..

Does Thom do a custom order type of thing through his NY boutique?

Yes they do bespoke/MTM in the Tribeca studio; but, I don't think you'll be able to for one of the runway pieces from a year ago.

I recall those pants being marked down to like $200 at BG and they have VERY small.
