Thx1138

As a Star Wars fangirl, I saw this movie a few weeks ago out of curiosity. I didn't know anything about it beforehand, and I was surprised at how poetic it was. I also really enjoyed his other major work, American Graffiti. I do think George Lucas' strength as a director is his visual ideas, but I've never believed that his work is superficial. Not even Attack of the Clones.

well i like the old star wars films as well but the whole thing has become such a massive money empire these days. i wish he'd make films like these again...without all the overt,uber-expensive hollywood technology and just get back to making beautiful films. it is possible i think.

Yes definitely, that movie showed he is perfectly capable of making more challenging movies idea-wise, but his career has taken a different course. It's also admirable that instead, he made movies that were challenging in terms of technology, and pushed the special effects 'industry' forward.
