Felton, Curran join 'Labyrinth'
Historical mini explores Cathar massacre
By Ed Meza

BERLIN -- Tom Felton, who portrays Draco Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" franchise and most recently appeared in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," and Tony Curran ("The Adventures of Tintin") have joined the cast of "Labyrinth," Tandem Communications' historical miniseries based on Kate Mosse's bestseller.

The four-hour mini is set against the backdrop of the Crusades and the Cathar massacres, and tells two connected stories set 800 years apart -- that of a young woman living in Carcassonne in 1209, and of a modern-day archaeologist who makes a startling discovery in a nearby cave in the South of France.

Felton has signed on for the role of Raymond-Roger de Trencavel, Viscount of Carcassonne, who died in 1209 a martyr while trying to protect his Cathar citizens from the genocide committed by French Catholics.

Curran, who appeared in Tandem's hit mini "The Pillars of the Earth," plays ruthless antagonist Guy D'Evereux.

Helmed by Christopher Smith, "Labyrinth" began principal photography this month in Carcassonne in the Aude/Cathar Country in the South of France.

John Hurt, Sebastian Stan, Jessica Brown Findlay and Vanessa Kirby also star.

Tandem is co-producing with Film Africa in association with Ridley Scott and Tony Scott's Scott Free Films. Locations include Cape Town, South Africa.

Felton and Stan also star in Todd Lincoln's upcoming thriller "The Apparition," a U.S.-German co-production from Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment and Studio Babelsberg.

'Deathly Hallows - Part 2' picks up Hollywood Movie of the Year Award

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 was honored with the Hollywood Movie of the Year Award at last night's 15th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala.

The final Potter film was chosen by the public voting online at the Yahoo! Movies website.

"Picking up the award on behalf of the crew was Tom Felton who played one of the villains in the movie. Thanking the fans, the organization and everyone involved in the film, once again the star reminded everyone just how humble they were for the opportunity to be part of a major movie franchise."

Hopefully, this is just one of many awards for the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 film and series as a whole.

Ugh. I wish he would stop with the old man hair. Like the suit though.

I think he just has an unfortunately sized forehead, which makes him look like he has a receding hairline.
Or perhaps it's from all the bleaching on the Potter films the past 10 years?

I like the way it's styled in the photoshoots though. He should do it like that.

Oh, I know it's partly because his forehead is kinda big. But sweeping the hair back doesn't help. I agree with you about his hair in photoshoots, much better.

For anyone keeping an eye on Tom Felton's official Twitter, the Harry Potter actor is currently in South Africa filming his mini-series, Labyrinth, an adaptation of Kate Mosse's book, in which he portrays the Viscount Trencavel. The first promotional images of Tom from the film have been released by ORF, and can be seen, thanks to Feltbeats' tip, below. The film has a 2012 release worldwide, though no current distributor in the United States.

"The spectacular actors Tom Felton and Tony Curran are close to the already assembled brilliant team. I am very pleased to have found such an extraordinarily talented young actor who is still the same age as the historical figure of Viscount Trencavel. Trencavel was a incredible young man, very wise, and I'm sure that Tom Felton will live up to his memory and legacy," says Tim Halkin, Managing Director and Partner at Tandem Communications and Executive Producer.

Liza Marshall, head of Scott Free London and executive producer, said, "Tony Curran and Tom Felton currently rank among the best actors of Great Britain, they have an international reputation, and we are very proud of them to count them among our wonderful cast."

I wonder when he's going to propose, because clearly these two will be getting married.
But he looks so good! :)

Yeah, they seem quite close. I think either he or Dan will get married first of the Potter cast.

Tom's combination of patterns in #94 makes me laugh.

Tom Felton confirmed to star in period thriller and drama 'Therese Raquin'

It is now confirmed that Tom Felton - who portrayed the role of Draco Malfoy for all eight Harry Potter films - has signed on to play his next role alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Glenn Close in the period thriller and drama Therese Raquin.

Expecting Tom to finally play the role of a "good guy"? Well, this role will be similar nuances to that of Draco, as Tom will be playing the role of a sick and spoiled young man who marries his first cousin, played by Elizabeth Olsen.

Olsen, however, falls in love with another man - her husband's childhood friend Laurent - and decides to murder Felton's character, Camille. But Camille isn't an easy soul to appease, so he haunts the pair until they fall into a tragic end.
