John Galliano - Designer

I don’t know…
It’s a bit like when I saw Claude Montana in the jardins du Palais Royal.
Yes he overcame the controversy but nothing will ever be the same. And tbh, watching his documentary didn’t help.

He is still a genius but he definitely wears his life of excess, physically.

I’m not a melancholic person at all but sometimes I watch old John shows and I feel the same way as I feel when I watch all Karl’s shows…Even if the man is alive and more or less active.
That documentary was absolutely horrible, Karl and John will always give you the chill they may desirable clothes, there was the best of the best. And the last of a generation

I feel bad for him. With the things happening in recent years, what he paid for what he did was too much.

I wish Dior just sent him to a rehab...
He looks very skinny in that pic. I hope he is well.
Aww why he's older he and got to make his dreams come ture. Maybe not all of them but he did a good job he fell down and then he got up. I'm proud of him

reading in puck news on marc being sold say this part:
John Galliano—the other designer who played an integral role in the building of Bernard Arnault’s empire—was desperate to buy his brand back from LVMH years ago, and they said no.

they really dont want him to win in any way

I think that's what sad about the fashion industry - the products (clothes) are so defined by a moment in history that it's actually jarring to see its creators are still affected by the passage of time. The Egyptian collection will forever live rent free in my mind but i was shocked to notice that it was 21 years ago...

I mean this is so cruel only BA can do that ;) they’re not having any stores, no wholesale, not even selling perfumes to the best of my knowledge so it is just a dormant name which even owner cant get back…shame, he should just do his stuff under his own name…do you think he will get hired somewhere soon ?

John Galliano still hold a monetary value that a group, if interested, would pay and that John probably can’t afford.

John Galliano the brand is like Christian Lacroix. It was never successful commercially but it remained because they had a lot of licences and the shows were necessary for those licenses.

Even if it’s a bit cruel I can understand why they said no to him. Imagine not make money for years, losing more with the disgrace of it founder and CD and now selling it at a low price to the founder?

I wonder what could be the value of John Galliano today. Maybe 50/100M?
I don’t think John could afford it.

Hmm I’d say upper one is 50M, can’t imagine the value of almost non existing brand is 100M now…
With regards to JG affording it, I don’t think he would pay out of his own pocket but rather with support of some sort of investor.
I remember there were rumours earlier this year he was personally approaching Middle East Equity firms and also Richemont which said no.
