Lanvin- loved it all, the shapes, the details, the shoes!!! A great example of what minimalism can and should be in 2005.
Dior- captured the mood of the season beautifully, it was soft, airy and feminine but with a hard edge that made it feel new.
John Galliano- presentation aside, the clothes were classic Galliano
Marc Jacobs- all the pale colors, new shapes and clean lines that seem so right for s/s 06
Ann Demeulemeester- a first for me, I always love the pieces but this was the first time I loved the whole look.....
Viktor and Rolf- loved the color palette and fabric choices, and I'm mad for the proportions (all of those volume on top, fitted on bottom "upside down" pieces!!!)
Prada- one of two collections that stand out in a lackluster Milan season, the shapes of the dresses were so clean and fresh, definitly the most memorable thing to come out of Milano.
Rochas- a wonderful progression from last season, softer shapes, beautiful colors and *shock* great pants!
Roland Mouret- another great progression, he took the fabulous 40's silhouette from last season, softened it up and added a dash of color to make it perfect for spring (though i'm partial to the ivory he showed)
Versace- the second Milanese show that stands out at me for the simple reason that it was the most current thing Donatella has done in a long time and it showed that Versace can do toned down
and glamourous clothes
biggest letdown: Louis Vuitton.
After last seasons gorgeous collection (and the anticipation for this one) this season fell short by oh, a mile or so. The colors were all wrong, there was too much going on, and those bags!
Runner up for biggest letdown: Alexander McQueen.
God, no comment. Horrible, absolutely horrible. It was trashy, bling bling skankiness at it's best, so bad in fact that even Cavalli ditched that formula for this season, a clear sign that something is wrong here. The one saving crace that kept it from being the biggest disappointment was the first 10 or so suit looks, but it was all downhill from there.
R.I.P- Gucci.
This one should be self explanatory. It was bad, unoriginal, a little late on trends and had basic designs that aren't acceptable anywhere but NY fashion week.
