I'm still waiting for the brown fur coat everyone is mentioning and the ripped denim shorts. Still haven't seen either of them!

same! I check the website everyday just incase it has come out! im going to new zealand for four weeks in 7 days, and i really hope it comes out before then, although i doubt it! i did manage to pick up a back up brown fur coat from a charity shop for a tenner if i do miss it! Its a tad too large though, which i find with all vintage/charity shop clothes. Ive told my boyfriend and my mum they will have to check for me!

I saw a pair of patent brogues at Topshop the other day, quite pretty but they were priced at about 80 euros - insane! Not even real leather. I could get just as pretty ones for half that amount elsewhere. Topshop, to me, is all hype mostly.

It looks like a pair of cheap LV bunny ears... which I know is the idea, but still, they just look a bit of a naff copy to me..

thats what i was thinking too, im still weirdly attracted to them haha.
£18?! pah

some of the people that work in this shop are unbelievable

you would think, being able to wear anything you want from the store they might wear something nice. but no :ninja:

they are so so hopeless and i haven't even had that bad service in oxford circus when it was at it's busiest. it took them 15 minutes to get me a pair of shoes. because they were standing around chatting. seriously.

See, this is why I think i'd be good working in Topshop :P But noo, they don't even give me a chance to be interviewed. It annoys me because i've applied 3 times and they've rejected me all those times.
I don;t think the customer service is TOO bad considering how busy they get but some of the things they wear...

I hate bunny ears... They're only OK at LV because they don't look like bunny ears :P

I know I've whined about this before, but their customer service is genereally terrible. They make a huge deal (eyerolling, sighing etc.) if you need them to do anything other than the basic scanning/getting shoes, stand there talking whilst serving/waiting for you to get help, never smile, if you ask them questions its like getting blood from a stone and are generally un-helpful. Plus, alot of the time they know nothing about the collections. I know this is a massive generalisation, and is maybe just in the two stores closer to me (I have noticed that in other stores they are better), and that retail is stressful and that customers can be *****, but considering that you could probably get the same quality clothes for 20% less elsewhere, IMO it is not acceptable.

I think in general Topshop have become too complacent with their position as the 'it' brand of the highstreet - not just in customer service, but also in terms of designs, as I think they are becoming increasingly lazy with their collections (case in point, reusing the same things over and over)

/end rant

I do love this jacket http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/s...category_rn=42347&productId=1436135&langId=-1

I think you need to come to my store...

We are trained to give the best customer service on the high street e.g checking the stockroom, offering to ring other stores, warehouse searches and if staff aren't offering that, then you need to complain because people aren't meeting the standards. I can't speak for other stores, but the two I've worked in mainly have really good members of staff who are willing to go the extra mile. And me? Well I love shopping and fashion and I love to try and help other people find what's suit them, so that comes across when I work.

Loverunway, have you applied to any other London stores such as Brent Cross, Strand and Westfield? Do you have any other retail experience. I'm sure you'd be great there, just perservere.

kbella- I was told that I had to apply online for every store and they don't take applications in store anymore. Is that not true?
And I don't have any experience but I've done lots of work experience just not in retail. I'm currently doing voluntary work partly so I can put that on my CV too. It's really aggravating because I think I could do a good job [without sounding arrogant!]

I applied for jobs in Topman and Topshop about 6 months ago.

I worked for H&M for six years, including the one at Oxford Circus, have a first class degree in Fashion, and was fully flexible with no other commitments, and still didn't get so much as an interview.

So I wouldn't feel too bad about it loverunway. God knows what they do interview staff based on..

I believe our store took in paper CV's, not sure if it's just central stores or assistants trying to fob you off. I'm not sure if they'll be taking on anyone for now, as most stores should have Christmas temps, but the best thing to do is to go into store and try and speak to the manager. Try and go in at a quiet time, they should speak to you as they're trying to give the best customer service, they tend to be a bit older than normal staff and have a sense of authority. Ask them directly, give them a good sense of your personality, and they're more likely to prioritise your CV.

yeah loverunway yesterday i heard someone in the store near me (brighton) asking a member of staff about a job advertisement in the window and they just said "yes sure come with me" and she went off with them so i guess maybe they see if you look right first  which they can't do online

topman.com

I want these pants but I cant find it on their website or I must be blind :/

Seeing my parents were in NY over the weekend. I asked them to check it out. But it wasn't in the store, they ended up getting me another pair of LTD pants which are pretty cool and that aren't on the TOPMAN store site.

I just hope the pants in the picture above will be on the site soon. I so want to order them.

I've given in my CV countless times, never been given an interview despite my experience! It seems like online applications are a better process, i've been invited to 6 interviews through applying online - H&M Debenhams and River Island (EW) but still, it's a job!
Also, I sold my Barbara Hulanicki dress on Ebay! I accepted a buy it now price of 70!? I thought it was weird people are still wanting them..

I'm waiting for them to stock a nice pair of heeled ankle boots or i really want a trophy jacket

I agree Topshop staff are dressed ever so poorly. I know they are expected to wear alot of the clothes from the store but can they not at least style them a bit better? Rather than just throwing on 4 different trends together.

At my local Topshop I really do wonder how some of the staff even got the job! I officially give up applying for a job at Topshop. I'm now employed by Zara & loving it! Much prefer wearing uniform rather than how many topshop items I can fit on me.

Love this coat http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/s...ategory_rn=177536&productId=1420504&langId=-1

sold out in my size though, fingers crossed it comes back in stock!

A friend of mine that lives in the UK bought me the vintage petite faux fur leopard coat. I say it recently on Galal Gonzalez and fell in love.
