We've already seen a few fashion houses sporting this as a big theme in their spring/summer collections. I especially love Raf's take on it

good call, mette! :heart::woot:
I agree, it's all over this season!, I only hope Paris delivers it too.
I'm in love with Raf's take on this, he molded to the point it almost looks like a bubble in some of his looks.

Hmmm.. I thouught there's a thread called "Vapor"-another take on this trend....but anyways, I love love transparency, and Raf Simons hit the mark with this one...so exquisite

this is crazy! lately i been thinking up alot of designs using transparent layering of silk and layers of color and this was before the designers showed their stuff!
im surprised so many designers also came up with these ideas of transparent layerings.
i love jil sander's way of doing it, cause it sort of looks like what i came up with, like with the colors, but mine was more like colors layering on top of another

i would think mui mui's last collection had something to do with this transparent theme

The question is who started it???

Should we blame it on Rei -which she did a couple of seasons ago- as usual?

:innocent:

it was definitely one of the strongest trends in summer 2007. here's the thread.

Rei did it beautifully but I don't think it was her this time. Dior S/S 06 had already showed some hints of transparency and Francisco Costa did it in New York the same season as Rei, combining both abstract layers of sheer with his usual minimalism.. which seems to be the general interpreation for 2008, maybe they got some of his ideas for this season?.

I fu**ing love Jil Sander!!!!!
and i really like this trend... hummm Jil Sander + All. Del'Acqua + Doo-Ri + Noir in ONE editorial.... with a sexy brunette à la Hannelore without make-up... walking in a forest by the morning...

this thread is my inspiration
oh my god, so beautiful...my favorites have to be raf's and those coll jodphur things at noir :woot:

this is everywhere! but its so pretty to look at that i dont mind a bit

What's the difference between Vapor & Transparency?

I think this is the same as the Vapor thread ? There are some fabulous pieces, and definite repeat theme, irregardless of what its called thou!

Lovely images.

I think vapor is more general, it includes chiffon and similar fabrics.. whereas transparency.. is uhh.. specifically see-through regardless of the material?.

i think this needs to be merged with the vapor thread...
i'm confused about the difference between the two...
:ermm:..

i know you explained it mullet...and thanks..
but i still dont quite see it.......

arent they just 'versions' of the same thing?...

just gorgeous. i especially love the skirts on the two Jens Laugesen outfits
