maenads were the female followers of Dionysus

Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.

In Greek vase-painting, the frolicking of maenads and Dionysus is often a theme depicted on Greek kraters, used to mix water and wine. These scenes show the maenads in their frenzy running in the forests, often tearing to pieces any animal they happen to come across

He was also known as the Liberator (Eleutherios), freeing one from one's normal self, by madness, ecstasy, or wine. The divine mission of Dionysus was to mingle the music of the aulos and to bring an end to care and worry.

The retinue of Dionysus was called the thiasus and comprised chiefly of Maenads and satyrs.

Anyone see the Tru Blood drinks they made? It's like Raspberry soda I guess. You can pre-order it. They're kind of pricey though. My friend and I want to get a pack. How bada55 would that be? Walking around with it... in daylight.

I loved the episode- the hotness that was Eric was just great. I loved his little smirk in the beginning and then the dream scene where he was all playful and teasing- he looked gorgeous. I do like how they do the S/E progression in the books better, it's less forced, but still..

And this whole season needs more Pam.

Even though I knew it was going to happen, I was so sad when Godric was on the roof. I really liked his character and the interaction with Eric was sweet.

I agree, I miss Pam.

I'll be happy for Sooke to be back in Bon Temps next week though, she needs to get in her house because Maryann and Eggs have now taken it over. Tara is gone and she will come home to strangers inhabiting her home! And Maryann is sure to be in for a shocker when she realizes that Sookie cannot be affected by her black eyed craziness.

jesus, that last episode made me relize why they didnt have Askars naked all this time and why they prob should wait at least every two episodes to have him naked and being adorable like that(plus with that faboulous hair and smile and etc)

my heart won't be able to take it. He was not even naked enough and i almost died, i couldnt manage be pathetic like that every sunday

And i'm so mad the season finale will only air on sept 13. ...making us wait two weeks for the finale is just mean HBO, i'm already trying to cope with the "one year without true blood" matter

exactly!! the scene where lafayette beats him up was my favorite part of last night's episode. I've been wanting to do that for the longest time.

I wasnt a big fan of the episode, it was pretty boring. I miss Pam and fangtasia. and when Eric was crying with Godric it looked like he was laughing....

I really hoped they didnt kill off Godric like in the books, I loved his character. and I'm gonna miss the Newlins

Love the end, how sweet and tender was Eric?

The pillow talk reminds me of book four´s Eric, I hope next season would be about that... he was beyond sexy and cute.

I didn´t like that they change the effects of drinking blood to being sexually attracted as well, in the books it´s more about Sookie feeling safe around Eric not horny...

As usual, I´m done with the manaed/eggs/tara storyline. It should have been like in the books... it they should have been about the sex club, Sam f*ing the manaed, Eric wearing tights as a raging queen throwing Sookie on his car hood telling her to "yield to him"

So, how many episodes we have left? 3?

I guess I'm in for a treat with book 4. I'm almost done with #3.

I really loved the bonding moment with Sookie and Jason. I was glad to see that Sookie was with Godric at his end like in the book. Very touching. Lafayette was amazing this episode. I like that he is back to normal after being held hostage.
