Trendsetter2 said:I think the problem with uggs is when some girls wear them and they are the cheap ones. They shape of the uggs goes pear shaped and looks horrible, I think its cos some girls cant walk properly in them!
And uggs dont look too good on big girls in my opinion. You need slimmish legs to pull it off really.
MJCouture said:I was just re-reading this thread and I think a lot of people wrote Uggs off to quickly. As much as you might hate them, I really don't think they are going anywhere. It is pretty evident if you go out onto the New York City streets on any cold day that in cold climates, people need to have a warm footwear option, and a lot of them are turning to Uggs. I don't really think it is about a trend anymore, they have become the flip-flops of winter. Cheap, weather appropriate, and easy to wear.

Ugg Australia is an American brand.
AMERICAN!! Dammit.

The word ugg, to NZers and Australians is generic. Well, it was until an American company trademarked the term.
That's like trademarking the word "sneakers" and stamping SNEAKERS AMERICA on the back of the shoes you make.
Sheepskin boots (what we call ugg boots/uggs/uggies) have been around for many years in Australia and NZ.
Saying "knock-off uggs" or "fake uggs" is like saying fake sneakers or fake pumps. Doesn't work.

Ugg Australia brand boots are no longer made in Australia. They are made in NZ and China. They are then sold for a much higher price than real Australian/New Zealand brands. Eg, here in NZ Ugg Australia boots have just popped up in a store for $NZ240 compared to NZ brand boots for $NZ120.
Real Australian and NZ manufacturers/retailers are no longer allowed to call their boots ugg boots, despite the fact that the term "ugg boots" is deeply ingrained in culture Down Under and most people still call them that.
Fricking ignorant tourists swarm shops here asking for "real ugg boots" and think NZ/Aussie manufacturers are selling some kind of knock-off product.

I think Uggs are worth their price and definetely their comfort. I don't think it's the most stylish but they are soooo comfortable.*Happiness* said:so are uggs really worth it?
