Just seen this issue today at the store. You get a free Urban Outfitter's bag. Quite nice actually.
My sister is praying that the subscribers get it, because she wants it.

Winona-I don't know-one of the most beautiful women ever, but she is really of the 90s, even though she made really good films. I don't know if it is the hair cut or what, but she is not really relevant.

You're right, she isn't relevant. But it doesn't really matter does it? You don't have to be "relevant" within the pop culture realm in order to have an acting career. She's been acting consistently since she was "relevant" but she's just been off the radar at her choosing. I'm pretty sure she'll continue to stay off the radar because that's what she appears to want. She does magazines every few years but really it seems she doesn't like doing the press.

I prefer the subscriber's cover loads more even though it's still not great. Looking forward to the interview.

I llike the subscribers cover better too. But I'm a subscriber and I still haven't got my copy. Elle are always so late to send them out.

I agree. I don't think that "relevant" really matters in this case. Winona is a fashion icon and she's going to continue to get covers as long as there are people who grew up watching her films / loving her. I would wager that she's certainly more relevant than some of the actresses and personalities I see on magazine covers these days.

Besides if Jessica Simpson can get a Vanity Fair cover were living in a bizarro universe wherein conventional logic no longer applies.

Very much agreed Luxx. The actress that lasts is much more relevant than the actress getting the covers during her 15 minutes.

The more I think about it, I am impressed that she's on this cover; I remember Winona appearing in magazines in the late 80's Heathers-era, and here she is in 2009, twenty years on, and still looking as good as she does. And still working.

Someone sit Lindsay Lohan down and show her this issue - how you can be an occasionally scandalous offbeat actress, and still create a substantial track record of movie roles.

Lindsay and Winona have had 2 different type of scandals and at height, Winona's rep was not tarnished beyond repair like Lindsay's is.

Every actress or actor has a different scandal; what it offers is the chance for the individual to get on with some work instead. Hugh Grant's scandal was genuinely worse than any of Lindsay's attempts at engineering headline-grabbing stunts, and he simply kept working, to ensure that eventually people had something else to talk about in his articles. Lindsay's a young girl, a hit movie or two, and all will be forgiven in Hollywood. If she's appearing on the cover of Elle in twenty years' time, who knows? To survive that long after your first hit movie, that's something.

Though I wonder if Winona's interview will include anything candid or interesting. Maybe it'll just be about shoes.
