UK Elle September 2025 : Winona Ryder by Olivia Malone | the Fashion Spot

UK Elle September 2025 : Winona Ryder by Olivia Malone

both covers are just ok imo due to Winona’s expression especially on the second one where she’s neckless whilst being swallowed by that ACNE fake fur coat.

For me, the first one is an example of how UK Elle's covers can be very indistinct, where the foreground and background exists on the same wavelength, and there's not much that stands out in the image itself.

It's saved by the white lettering, but imagine if that didn't exist. Also, I'm not fond of a "I've fallen and can't get up" pose on any cover.

The second one has more confidence and self-possession, and would probably look well as a subscribers cover, with fewer coverlines on the left.

I don't tend to have much to say about UK Elle - it's one of the big three fashion magazines in the country, but I haven't been compelled to buy an issue for years, aside from a one-off purchase of the October 2022 issue with Adele - and only because that was shared content from the American edition, so I was saving on the import price.

How did they manage to make such a beautiful woman look like Corey Feldman?
Happy to see Winona on a September cover though.

She looks awful on both covers. The second one is an actual crime. Where's her neck??
I like Winona, but she brings nothing to fashion covers. She always looks like she'd rather be at home alone.

I like some of it, but it's really reminiscent of what Harper's Bazaar did with her last August, in my opinion, and it would be really nice to see someone do something new with her.

Do you maybe know why some brands putting name of designer and other now ? Like here "Givenchy by Sara Burton" and for example Chloe and Valentino without name and surname of current designer ?

Sometimes is by the brand's request...they ask to be credited like that while others don't request that.
