I wanted a feeling of celebration for the December cover, and if a moody teenager lounging on a baroque sofa is the closest I'm going to get from UK Vogue, I'll go with it. But it'll take more than a couple of velvet cushions to truly make me feel the 'glamour', 'dream', 'thrill' or 'dazzle', and I suspect those cover lines might be selling me content that doesn't truly exist inside.
She looks very pretty but it's not a very original cover and honestly I don't think she's got enough "it" to be on the cover of Vogue (especially so early in her life).
This isn't quite what I had hoped for December to be honest. It's one of the more festive covers of recent years but it's still just not magical enough for me. Call me old fashioned but I want a December cover to be filled with wonder and excitement.
Ooh, I quite like this! There's some faint flashes of Keira's Wizard of Oz cover for US Vogue years ago. The lush colours and fabric coupled with her weary expression works for me. Personally I'd have liked to see someone else in this, not mad about her at all. In fact, despite Chanel she's really an odd choice to get such a massive cover in the UK. Elle or Glamour, but not Vogue. And certainly not for December. But I suppose it's as odd as her mum's last cover for this mag.
I fail to see how lying on the couch is festive and appropriate for December. Her expression isn't exciting either and neither is all the blue color. This is really depressing.
I was totally surprised to see the title of this thread and was also rather expecting to dislike the cover. But, I have to say, I really love it. I think there's a certain rich glamour about it that totally feels festive. And Lily looks very beautiful and sweet.
WOW! For such a beautiful dress, i'm surprised they managed to make it look bad.
It looks like a 19th century dress...
I don't think it was the best way to showcase this dress.
I'm not sure how I feel about the cover to be honest. It does give off a dreamy, sleeping beauty type of vibe but at the same time the layout is trying so hard to compete with the blue couch and the blue dress and there is a red velvet pillow and a red masthead to match the pillow... it's just too much. Maybe it will look better in print.
