UK Vogue December 2016 : Lily-Rose Depp by Bruce Weber

I don't really see the surprise behind her landing a cover personally. She's been on a Conde Nast publication already - LOVE - and has the backing of Chanel. One of the most powerful advertisers in the industry. That spending clout can buy you a lot when it comes to promotion of your star.

How many covers has Bruce actually shot for British Vogue? It has to be his first in years...?

^awful PS on the second pic, she looks copied/pasted...
I'm really looking forward to Rianne by Walker, I have dreams of that face in his settings already :)

Flicking through my subscription copy, I find this 'party' issue totally underwhelming in terms of the fashion stories. Sure, it's a big enough issue, at 330 pages, and there are lots of shopping promotions inside, but the actual editorial content left me entirely cold. There isn't much glamour to be found at all, and neither Walker or Weber are at their best.

I don't regret receiving it in the post, because I'll go back and read the features - and give the Tim Walker edit a much better look, in case I'm missing the point - but there's no way I'd buy this in a store at full price, there simply isn't any magic.

I'm torn between, 'Pretty girl, pretty cover' and, 'I'd rather see her on a Vogue cover when her features have matured a bit more.' But it's a totally fine cover. I think I'll buy it when the cheap by ship version lands here in a couple months.

I quite like the picture of her with the guitar. It makes me think it's a shame she'll probably never be on the cover of RUSSH.

I might get this issue just because of Tim & Rianne's ed. It looks good!

Thanks for posting! :flower:

Rianne works well for Tim Walker. That second to last shot looks like it was shot by Luchford

I am floored by Tim Walker's editorial. Rianne looks otherworldly and the setting is magical. I must say the shot behind the cellophane is my favorite, it evokes so many emotions.

Tim Walker is once again in top form! Love how he rocks up every December with something quite memorable, be it for Vogue UK, China, or Italy. This style feels even more apt with the Japanese setting. But the weak links are Phelan's styling (which doesn't come through strong enough), and oddly enough, Rianne van Rompaey. Her looks are as deliciously ghoulish as ever, but that's simply not enough for me. A Walker travel edit demands confidence, direction, and presence from the model. It required more than just hunched shoulders and pursed lips. As a result she's overshadowed by just about every supp cast member in these images.

There's also a simple edit with Heather Kemesky in this issue, in her usual austere yet intriguing mood. It's perhaps my second favourite edit in the issue. The cover feature belongs in the bin.
