UK Vogue June 2022 : Gisele Bündchen by Steven Meisel

The Gisele editorial is incredible - that fashion week editorial is embarrassing is this really what the best that pooled vogue resources can come up with for global content? LOL

As I said so many threads ago, they never share the Meisel eds. They only did with some pictures in a few Vogues and never more. Wish Gisele was in every Vogue a not those editorials from the American edition.

Because Anna is the global editorial director, not Edward.

I don't know why she is relevant at this point, but I like this cover, bringing her vibe back to her peak times in 00s. She looks sexy, fierce, and not-like a transman with angular face

She is relevant for the fact that she does her job. Most of the new girls is better in counting the followers than posing unfortunately.

That about sums up his abilities in one fell swoop LOL

There will always be people that are overly-privileged to always remain in the good graces of fortune that keep them in the lap of luxury not because of any talent and creative vision— but simply for knowing all the right people and good social-climbing skills. For all his years snug in the very heart of the fashion elite, he’s only been a decent stylist at best (— and that’s not taking into account that he blatantly ripped off Lori Goldstein and Phyllis Posnick wholesale).

And taking advantage of, and weaponizing race has him appointed at Vogue UK— and let’s not kid ourselves, Vogue Italia and Paris are also his as well now. Not to mention through basic political gimmick maneuvering by way of SM, he’s amassed the commoners to his side (of which the fashion elite had until the rise of SM, usually shunned but now are begging for approval from), making him arguably the most powerful editor of them all. Still not an inkling of creative talent— but got to admit his social skills are to be admired if one lacks creative talent but still ambitious enough to set their sight for Anna’s throne. He absolutely played the game.

Anyway, no complaints for this Gisele shoot. 10, 20 years ago this brand of shoot would just be typical. Nice enough, but nothing extraordinary. But we’re not in remotely decent times anymore; beggars can’t be choosers and all that. So shake and cry away, aracic.

(And you’re right, Serend1pity: Imaan would have absolutely brought the fresh and the bombshell vibe in equal measure. And not even worked up a sweat in doing so.)

I agree on every word here.

This spread isn't at all bad or anything, Gisele is great, and she more than delivers here and it is actually a good whiff of fresh air from the mediocrity lately, so this old school glam now feels like a 200% mission accomplished.
I rather have someone like Kristen McMenamy who has a much stronger face if they really have to do another Supermodel issue.

I really however, hope they can use a completely new model, yes, not actress, with a new concept (or keep the concept), then that would be more befitting for a top fashion magazine.

The cover is not at all groundbreaking nor striking, and V Magazine just did the Gisele comeback thing a month ago, and I dare to say in a more impactful way.

Aye, although I'm glad this UK Vogue came out, as I was about to buy V Magazine, and now I don't have to, because I can get the same fix of Gisele from this, and not have to pay £16 to get hold of a copy of V. I don't need both, and gone are the days when I would spent the money doing so.

Despite owning a copy, I've been compelled to pick this issue up every single time I've came across it in the store - purely for how glossy and glamourous it is. I've flicked to Gisele's cover story each and every time, I just cannot get enough!

I do the same any time I see it in store, but I've not been convinced to buy a second copy, the way I would have, if there'd been two different covers available - a newsstand and a subscriber one.
