UK Vogue June 2023 : Miley Cyrus by Steven Meisel

Absolutely wonderful to see Steven Meisel back shooting British Vogue's front covers. Even more so, following the level of mediocrity we've had to contend with over recent months. Admittedly, I'm not the biggest Miley Cyrus fan but I do rather love this.

There's a sultriness to the first cover which I like, and love the throwback to Prada's Spring 2009 collection with the custom Prada look on the cover. The pose, the hair - every single element is working (indeed a little Raquel Zimmermann, @ivano).

Miley's accompanying cover story is shaping up the be just as fabulous. Those two black and white portraits are flawless. Miley would be crazy not to want those hung somewhere in her home - I would. Fingers crossed there's more inside the actual magazine...

I want to like this a bit more than I do but I appreciate the unexpected combo.

Any of the other B/W images from Miley’s ed would’ve made a far better cover.

This is million times better than the last 9 months since Linda's cover (almost Rihanna broke the curse of bad covers but her husband ruinned the moment). Indeed @vogue28, I discovered this cover looking your IG and I thought Raquel made a new cover at first glance, but no. Anyway, I like Miley's energy a lot and I'm glad there kids in Music Industry keeping it real, like the good old days.

I wonder if Meisel and Co may have been inspired by the 1985 Madonna by Scavullo shoot...??? (Mullet's gonna love the horseface of the first cover LOL The 2nd cover in Dior is gorgeous.)

Looking at the Madonna pic posted by Phuel, Germanotta really copied and pasted her entire image! I hadn't realised it was so literal. I actually wanted to say that I was getting Little Monster vibes from the cover editorial little did I know the original source is really Madonna.

Thank God for her fact-checking fans!

before that then

Moving the goalposts? lol

That is unexpected! I was expecting a american vogue cover and not Meisel, so this is surprising.

I love the first cover. Not a fan of what she's wearing, but she looks amazing, the pose works and it's a dream come true to see her through Meisel's lenses.

She's finally having the big moment she deserves.

Anna must hate her after the cancelled cover, but I'm satisfied British Vogue picked her (even after so many disasters in recent memory coming from Edward) and not US Vogue with their present anti-glamour boring to death aesthetic.

I neither like it nor dislike it. It's just how I feel with new Meisel projects. It's cute but it's not that great, nor that bad to hate on.

I do t like this at all unfortunately. The Photoshop and facial expression on the green cover is really bad not sure how they let it out. The bnw cover is decent and the ed is average at best. She is capable of photographing pretty well as seen in the flowers video above.

I also really wanted to like it but… WTF Meisel shot this?
the b&w shots are good.
maybe in print it’ll all look better.
