UK Vogue May 2015 : Emilia Clarke by Paolo Roversi

^thanks. Awful awful wig, it looks like a bird´s nest

I would never have guessed that was a wig. The wigs she wears on GoT have gone from looking very realistic(season 1&2) to looking very wiggy especially in season 4. The more I look at the cover and bts video the more I love it.

I like the decision to go with the blonde hair, but the impact is completely lost against the white background.

This cover is boring, can't believe than Roversi shot it.

I wonder why Vogue UK always gets it wrong. Awful cover.

this cover is so dreadful as the wig .. Poor Emilia

Mert and Marcus have done an amazing job with it

Thanks a lot for the previews.

Karen+Walker=

Emilia looks better with natural hair imo but I don´t like the harsh lighting on her face. Still better than the cover though.

emilia's couture spread looks way better than the other photos, and karen and walker looks like a dream. can't wait for hqs

I was chomping at the bit to see Karen by Tim Walker. Can't wait to see the full ed. The previews already look amazing.
Thanks for the previews, LastNight.

Emilia's ed is stunning, so the blonde pictures are outtakes, thank god!

What a shame they didn't use one of those shots for the cover!

I know the guys at SKY ATLANTIC and she is completely unrecognisable without blonde hair, the overal executive decision was to use a bond wig on the cover so fans of GAME OF THRONES would recognise her.

This is the only time she has been out of character and blonde. It's a massive big deal. Every other cover she has done (uk and us) she has been dark.
Vogue uk still has power.

I undestand the idea behind the wig but I think that actual fans would recognize her as a brunette or by her name alone. This might sell amongst casual fans of the show who are also interested in fashion but what´s the difference between this and say, Empire Magazine having a GoT cover?

True. It's just your usual cover politics at play. Alexandra follows a tried and tested formula, she really knows how to capture the attention of her audience. We might disagree, but her theories have been proven accurate. Emilia's edit is so much better, the contrast of her porcelain skin against the hair is marvellous. Love the styling too.

I understand that she has blonde hair so that people immediately know who she is upon seeing her on the cover, but I'm sorry, that's no excuse for the cover that's been given. Her editorial is far better than the cover image, but it's not just down to the use of her natural hair colour.

British Vogue stopped caring about producing exciting covers years ago. Every year I feel like they throw us a bone with the occasional mildly directional cover, but usually they're just some glorified Cosmo shot. Studio. Head shot. Dull.
