UK Vogue May 2015 : Emilia Clarke by Paolo Roversi

^ yawn

i like grace's cover though, much prefer it to the main one :P

Wonderful colors in Walker´s ed. It reminds me of the one with Edie but Karen is an infinite better model :)

This is a nice issue actually, the cover, and ed is total waste of Clarke's beauty, but there is much more inside that i found worthy.

Karen is killing it in the Tim Walker ed. She kinda reminds me of a young Grace Coddington with the long hair!

The editorial with Karen is infinitely glorious, so much more than Walker's one with Kirsi. He really managed to draw such interesting parallels, highlighted by his trademark quirk. Who needs W's art issue when you have something as provocative as this? Perhaps one of the reasons why British Vogue deserves to be among the top four is their meticulous attention to detail. The conception alone must've taken up quite a bit of researching!

What on earth is happening with Emilia's photos... the first ones were boring and awkward, and the couture ones are horribly retouched. I like Karen's ed though.

^I still think it is the lighting. Bright light has been directed towards her from every angle. You can see it in the video posted a few pages back. When you use light like that, you get no natural shadows... I am assuming the pictures are taken slowly (I forget the technical word) instead of instantly, in order for all the light-trick to work. This can make the pictures blury, unless she was able to stand completely still (which is very difficult).

UK Vogue, only worth buying for Karen Elson. Vogue Italia, only worth buying for Karen Elson.

At this rate, someone needs to produce an issue devoted to her career, with a retrospective gallery of shots to remind us of all the wonderful images we can't remember, because there's been so many of them, over the years.

what bothers me the most in Emilia´s ed is the puffy eyes, as if she was crying...

It could be, I just don't get the purpose of it, seeing how they turned out. It looks very fake and cheap, not to mention that they just aren't flattering... Emilia is pretty but she wasn't captured well at all.

^I agree. I think they were experimenting for fun, but the results are mediocre.

Long exposure was the technical term I couldn't remember.

Emilia's ed looks so over-photoshoped ugh, Hollie looks so so nice and elegant, Karen by Walker is fine art

Hollie's ed is boring, with the title "Talent Show" I was expecting to see something fun or exciting.

Karen by Tim Walker is pure love. I'm going to buy this issue solely for that ed.

Very reminiscent of Gilt Trip but the shots of Karen in the armchair remind me of Edie's shots in Wizard from LOVE, very "18th century British nobility with souvenirs from the orient".

I recently saw all many of these masks and garments in the St. Petersburg Museum of Religion and it's fantastic to see both them and the clothes come to life like! Walker is a genious.

Also, Edie and Karen look so much alike, I could've sworn it was Edie while looking at some thumbnails!

With the issue in my hand the dud editorials are not as obvious to the naked eye, but here I can spot them instantly. Tim Walker's and Roversi's are my favourite. I cannot believe Bensimon actually shot Aline's edit. His work is normally stellar, but everything looks so pedestrian here. My issue is with the styling mainly. It looks like some random girl picked from the street.
Trindle's edit too looks like a poor man's attempt at McDean's studio style. Honestly thought Hollie-May was Gigi. The styling in her ed is great, wish she carried the looks with mode confidence. When you're set against such an overwhelming setting the poses needs to be a little more dynamic.
That said, I'm always glad to see Tyrone in UK Vogue. And the More Dash Than Cash edit seems more appropriate as a celebrity feature. Love the shots.
