UK Vogue September 2019 : The ‘Forces for Change’ by Peter Lindbergh

I've resigned myself to receiving an issue that I'll get round to reading at some point, and I'll wait to get my fashion fix elsewhere.

It seems some of you forgot that Vogue is a social life magazine with a focus on fashion. Millenials hate fashion, so they need to sell magazines with a "friendly" touch and he's doing it. Last issue he served you fashion with 2 Meisel editorials, so give it a chance. Maybe October will surprise us.

I cried blood when I saw this cover!
Sometimes I think Alt is afraid of trying to change or dare for the result not to be at that level... That must be why she remains stuck in the 80s with the same models!

The portraits are great, but i'm disappointed than these photos are part of the main cover of this issue, looks like a supplement.

Kinda excited for Adut and Fran’s eds

this is the UK Vogue thread but gotta say that both editions are quite disappointing... this more so imo

Seeing it in the shops today, it's on sale for £2, and while the cover is as awful as it looks, the contents don't seem too bad. After all the media coverage hyping Meghan's contribution, there's not really any sense of it being that different from any other issue of UK Vogue.

Although there's not much to interest me in any issue of UK Vogue, so my baseline is low to begin with.

The impact of Natalie Portman's face on the front of UK Bazaar blows this away on the newsstand.

No solo covers exist - they are just for social media.

@tigerrouge is right. It is a normal issue with a few extra random bits (a poem, harry and Jane, Meghan interviewing Obama)

None of the main big fashion shoots have anything to do with Meghan. Or the upfront pages. It is actually quite underwhelming and disappointing.

Can anyone find out how well its selling?

It isn't that bad inside when you flick through, but honestly, even for £2 I'm not into picking up something that I know I'll look through three times max. Especially after that March issue which was the best one yet under EE.

Grace also styled the Lindbergh portraits of the cover stars inside. I was quite disappointed by her editorial with Elgort. Although there were a few strong shots, the execution felt a bit tacky and it was cheap whimsy compared to say Caroline Trentini's Billy Elliott editorial in US Vogue by Tonne. Venetia's editorial was probably the best.

Although the cover makes no impact on the newsstand, this issue has been referenced so much in the press this week, so even if he did very little to initiate the conception of this issue Edward definitely made a good move with this issue. Which does make me wonder why they reduced the newsstand price when this was one occasion where they could've gotten away with charging full price?

^ No one has physical solo cover however. Unless they’ll be announcing limited editions in the Conde Nast shop at some point...

I love the cover. This looks like it's the best September issue in ages
