Uniqlo

Almost all my Uniqlo stuff is from the men's section. I prefer the cuts from the men's collections because I have a long torso, and because the men's stuff is chicer. I'm an XS or S in women's sizing and get the XS in men's stuff (an S in sweaters because I like them a little oversized).

But I find Uniqlo super uncomplicated when it comes to their sizing, actually. Everything fits so well, and whether I size up or down, I never end up regretting it, it always somehow works and feels like the right size!

I currently badly want the sweatpants with the boa fleece lining from the men's collection (to wear at home, lol), but they were only available in large sizes last time I checked :(

I recently got the matching hoodie and it's the best thing ever, so fluffy and comfy and cute.

hey!- they are the sweatpants i got in Tokyo!
didn't see them in the nyc store, but i have been wearing them, even in what they are calling the "polar vortex" freezing weather we have been having...
they are so freaking warm that i don't even need another layer under them...
i tuck them into my moto boots and sometimes tuck them into thick socks...
they have been incredible and for the $$$ are an amazing investment!

yay!

^^ ah so it's more or less the same, excellent! I also have a long torso and too long arms, my only issue is shoulders when it comes to men's stuff but I'm not that narrow either so I guess it's all good!

Have you gotten stuff from the kids section? would 130 be just pushing it too far? (it's age 7-8 ).

Oh softgrey, I'm so jealous you have them. It sounds like they really are as warm and comfy as I want them to be! I want them even more now!

And MP, I have not gotten anything from the kids section, but 130 sounds like it would be uncomfortably small for an adult  According to their size chart that would mean having a 24-26.5inch chest :lol:

psylocke- i got the women's and they still have them on the website in the US...
ON SALE~!

i haven't been able to fit into kids clothes since i entered my 30's......
but i did see how many cute little fluffy things they have for kids on the website...
i can see why you'd be tempted...

eh- i always just order a bunch of stuff and send back whatever doesn't work...
you never know unless you try...
^_^

^^ Yeah, I just grabbed a ruler, damnit ... that girl must've been wearing an adult version, I swear!

^ I'd bee creeped out by any woman that fits into those kids sizes, tbh! Maybe the item you are looking for used to be available in adult sizes? You never know with Uniqlo.

psylocke- i got the women's and they still have them on the website in the US...
ON SALE~!
Took me forever to find them on the website, but I eventually did! Why do the women's ones look less fluffy in the pic than the men's one? Do you think they're the same?

i do think it's a bit different now that i compare them...
it's less like shearling and more like fine soft fur...
hard to tell in the pic though...
probably because they think women don't want them to be too bulky...

i really love mine...
i like how they are loose and comfy in the waist and the seat like sweats but then get stylishly tapered in the calf like a trouser...
they are not sloppy looking at all because of this...
just casual and cool...
my house is really warm, so i can't even wear them in the house...
but they are great for outdoors!

more like the first one but in off-white!.. I actually remembered the texture like that and the shape boxier, until I found the picture and I knew this was it:

i actually got the last one that runner posted as a gift for my mom for xmas---from my dad
(he asked me to shop for him)...
of course, i was secretly hoping she wouldn't like it and i'd have to keep it...

:innocent:...

MP- i love it too!...
so adorable! and looks very cozy...

i came close to getting something similar from last years UU collab...
but then i decided that it would look like an old bath mat after a few wears...
:ninja:...

* about the pants-
i was trying to understand why the size med fit me like a small, but then i remember they were purchased in japan, and the sizing is different!...
so mine are like a small US size...silly me!

I ended up ordering the ultra light down hooded coat in black and it's so soft , roomy without being baggy... and so light I'm skeptical and scared of finding death in the snow if I rely on it ... I'll report back once I get out of this heat wave and test it in proper (bad) weather.

Oh and I had a good feeling about the sweat sets from the loungewear section and I was right...... perfect for doing nothing. :P

thanks for reporting back MP...
glad it worked out well...

their "premium linen" series look good this spring.
I want these two.

it seems that they have this IDLF line where naoki takizawa did it, listening to her opinions, needs, etc.

"premium linen tunic" from that line

I like their linen stuff Runner.

Some nice pieces this spring, the Ines de la Fressange collection is a very appropriate collab., although it's very Agnés B.
Cute vid, always charming to see her talk.

I might like one or two of the dresses.

i saw that on their website...
while i found it an intriguing collab...
i am not personally drawn to it...
perhaps the linen shirts runner posted are the only things that could be good, at least for me...

the blue linen seems like a very good colour...
but the whole thing seems a little like a cartoon...
the sleeves are a bit too puffy...
while i would normally like a bit of a red stitched button, here it seems too much like a gimmick...
*oh- i know- let's have one button be stitched in red...
*yeah!...that'll be SO cool...
things like that...

if it was on the last button, it would be more subtle and more cool, imho...

it is very french though- so it will probably be a big hit in japan...
they seem to love everything french!
...

i confess---i like the menswear better...
^_^

stopped by the store today and didn't see that tunic...
though there were racks of her stuff...all super boring and yucky quality...

the basic linen shirts def do look good...

i also saw the michael bastian menswear collab...
that looks quite adorable, imo...
if i were a guy- especially a gay, stylish one (or just not an american one)- i'd be all over that stuff...
so cute~!

*and i normally hate hate hate polo shirts!...

i was doin the usual perusing at my local Value Village and i stumbled on a pair of Uniqlo jeans!

i read the brand label and it reads "UNIQLO women's -66-"

Given we Seattle-lites are always the last to get the good stuff, I've been deprived until now...to my amazement the jeans are 100% Cotton!

I'm very old-school when it comes to jeans and never liked the uber stretchy legging-ish jeans that are the norm these day. I can do 98% Cotton otherwise the material is too clingy.

Anywhoo the waist sits a tad bit higher than what's considered high waisted imo and the leg seems to be a straight fit. and gasp no hemming required!
I bought them for $7. so excited!

However, I'm stumped on what size the dang things are?!? There's no size indication on either the brand label or content label? is this normal?
Also are these a discontinued style? such is usually the case when i find something that actually fits my petite frame.

Any info you can give me to id these would be greatly appreciated!

I really love the IDLF stuff however that lady is very TALL with a very slender bordering on you know what looking frame, so imo these garments on the average person wouldn't look that exciting. more akin to Land's End from Sears :roll eyes:

I'm sucker for pajama like clothing and anything easy-going and loose so I do love those Easy Pinstripe pants & these with the red drawstring.

Overall it all looks really well designed and easy to coordinate. I like the details like the red stitching etc and pleasantly surprised by the touches rather than going completely overboard on the stereotypical tourist version of "Parisian style". I like the more utilitarian vibe rather than the waifish, Alexa Chung is my style icon, girls in Breton tops seen on every. site. on. the internet.

It's so funny to see what's considered "French" these days. Growing up devouring VOGUE, HB, Mlle etc as a kid, teen in the 90s, magazines presented French women with a more eclectic, experimental style and approach to dressing. Pre-internet there didn't seem to be such a distinction from say how ladies in the UK or Italy dressed.

The line is heavy on wardrobe staples which isn't any different from what every other higher end retailer is doing but i do appreciate the functional over overly kitsch or quirky lazy design distractions that plagues fashion these days.
