US Harper's Bazaar October 2008 : Kirsten Dunst by Alexi Lubomirski

I just got my copy and I have to say it was a real letdown. Bazaar has really dissapointed me in recent months. Where to start...

Well the whole couture ed looks like it was shot against the same bush, it's like they didn't want to spend the money to shoot on location at a Formal European garden a la Vogue so they settled on shooting it against a bush and figured they could get away with it. Karl's photography looks like a poor man's Lindbergh which is really dumb of Glenda since Lindbergh is one of the few A-list photogs she actually has working for her. Stella isn't that good a model and Amanda Harlech ain't that great as fashion editor.

The Emma Watson feature is another atrocity. It looks like a shoot for Entertainment Weekly and for the third month in a row Bazaar incorporates designers into the edit. Pretty soon designers are gonna realize how ridiculous these edits are and are gonna "politely decline."

And finally and I cannot stress this enough since too me it's the biggest insult to the Tilberis era, the absolute garish and all-over-the-place art direction. There is no thought put into it anymore.

And one last thing before I finish my rant, if they publish another article on how to get great hair I'm gonna beat Glenda with a copy my issue.

Love it, though its so summer! Kristen's ed is cute, and I lover Caroline's too...(gulp ...)

That mouth just jumps out at you. Boring, with the jewels and full on makeup in the pool (not a new idea). And Kristen Dunst wasn't the best choice, but oh well. She looks much better here than I've seen her look in quite awhile.

sorry about the quality.. I'm horrible with scanners. :ninja:

Your scans are great, dont worry :flower:
Thanks for scanning it!

Thank you for scanning that MP  it was so worth it!

Tisci is such an emotional man & he has found a way to mix his love of romance with making truly wearable... modern clothes... while keeping a genuine respect for the House of Givenchy. He has a real vision & is not just another designer trying to sell handbags. I don't cry for fashion! I love he said that

You're welcome, sedirea and MMA.

and you're so right, MMA, I think I'll always be obnoxious enough to crave for his independent designer past but I also enjoy the enthusiasm he's got for exploring Hubert's vision in a path that's very him, you can tell he's the one that tames his discoveries and not the opposite. I admire him for that..

Oh lord, I had to restrain myself from lauging too loud at the Emma Watson spread! I get that they're trying to infuse the whole Harry Potter aspect into it, but it came out so tacky! Plus, Emma's expressions -or lack of expressions- make the ed fall flat. Nice try though?

could they have been serious publishing this picture?..yikes. :ninja:

That "supernatural" editorial is one of the worst I've seen in a long time. It makes it hard to take the magazine serious.

Thanks for scannng, though!
