US Vanity Fair April 2005: Eastern Euro Supermodels

Just got the new Vanity Fair.

Karolina easily looked the best and it really showed how sweet and down to earth she was.

However, Natalia and Carmen came off almost as bad as Kimora Lee....

I liked how Vanity Fair also made their predictions and stated who they liked the best.

The writer thinks Hana will be the next supermodel, Valentina is the prettiest, Marija Vujovic is the one with the most "sheer determination", and Euguenia will have a very long running career.

Sad though how Karolina talks that she feels like she needs to move on in her life.

hierarchy - pecking order pg 226-227 vanity fair

since the vanity fair cover & edit is one of the most important of 2005, especially in the us, I continue to return to this beautiful & intelligent story & glean further details & opinions within.
we are all aware that nati, carm & KK are featured & rated as the #1, 2 & 3 girls in the story, with nati called "the #1" girl of the moment & carm & KK both described as their careers winding down, despite the 5 [?] year difference in their ages. also go to page 26 for a cute rear view of the cover on the contents page, again nati, carm & KK seen as the 3 most famous members of this cast.

but as far as the further hierarchy, models #4-9 in the story, the 'pecking order' that peretz describes, and imagining the future positions/success of the remaining 6 girls, you have to go to page 226-227- the full hierarchy of these girls is explicated, and euguenia is definitely placed ahead of hana & marija,
as much as I might love marija & others want to think that hana is #4 in the story, shes not, its euguenia: - look at their positions in the line up, its in the picture left to right:

1. nati
2. carmen
3. kk
4. euguenia
5. hana
6. marija
7. poly
8. valentina
9. inguna

its illustrated by their placement in the opening pages of the story.

and imo, if one is truly rating the current to- later-2005 successes of these girls, really, valentina, poly & even marija are at least equal to euguenia & hana, or I would argue, they have surpassed everyone except nati- really in march 2005, poly & valentina are the hottest girls, along with nati, with marija, euguenia, carmen & hana after.

so you see the pecking order is ILLUSTRATED on 226/27, even more plainly than a reading of the text.

why dont we all simply buy a magazine, read it then put it in the bathroom as we await the next issue?

Do they have Polina Kouklina in this issue? I'm not too fond of the othr Russian models...

No- a gross oversight in an otherwise excellent feature.

I was so disappointed to see so little Hana and so much Valentina (although I can't say she's isn't pretty...)

of course she's pretty but like tiffany would put it..she's just typically pretty, quite boring in my opinion, they should've put Anne Vyalitsyna or Polina instead of her at least. they're somehow more striking that val.

Dead on! Polina was so robbed of a spot in this. I mean, Valentina, as you put, is typically/non-extraordinarily pretty and not very well known... I doubt she could be considered a "supermodel." :( I would hate to see them try to "make" a supermodel out of Valentina...

You know it really says something about fashion magazines if a non-fashion magazine is the only one brave enough to put models on the cover...

Bought the issue last week.

I mean, I see models coming back into the mainstream now, but I still wonder how the editors of the magazine came up with this. Like "I'm bored, let's put models on the cover of our magazines..."

I have 2 copies. like it that much.

vanity fair recognized that bikini models sell magazines. last year's male covers or un-sexy female covers affected their sales.
this russian story seems to have got everyone's attention.

it would have been nice to see polina but I guess poly is more of a conde nast/vogue girl? i do prefer polina somewhat.

probably
because the majority of us dont want to see bones in a bikini next to all these incredibly hot-bodied but still extremely thin ladies....for starters.:innocent:

bikini

yes, hana is so gorgeous in the face but when you see her legs at the wrong angle its pretty scary.
valentina has a dynamite body, look for the pirelli calendar i think youll see her body is as great as her face.
hana was an unexpected choice for the VF bikinis and i dont recall any pics where she looked skeletal, but every hana fan knows there are are some scary pics of her legs.
hana is clearly a great beauty model & also runway but her super-thin physqiue is one of the few that worries me in fashion.

 I can always count on you to say something like that (and I don't mean it in a nasty way at all.):flower: But I think what I meant was that I would have liked to see more written about Hana, not necessarily more picture of her (although an upclose shot of her face would definitely have been nice.) I guess there's so little written about her because of her "undeveloped" English... I just wish Hana would learn more English so I could see more interviews. :(

the mainstream world mainly knows that models come from eastern europe. whether its in the movies or wherever models usually have a european accent and name ending with va or ka! so they were right on track;)

oh... it's so cute that Karolina's dad puts pics of Karolina in his office
oh... how cute? awwwww...
i wonder which one he chose!

i love this issue. it's fab, tells me so much about the "supermodels". shame the article didn't write much about Hana and Eugenia! and would like to see Polina too, but not Anne V! <-- she looks too SI!

haha i bet all his coworkers are stopping by his office often :brows:

I think they all look hot!Well they would not be in the magazin if they werent.I understand that everyone has its own fave model but i dont understand why peole say bad things about other models i mean its good that we have different looking people thats how it should be.i dont think that KK had plastic surgery if she did theyve done a great job on here. And the high and commercial thing pisses me of, a good model should be able to do both.

I'm not too sure... I read the article while in Borders, I think it was Hana's mom who is all into fashion now since her daughter started to model and she knows the other top models by name.. I can just imagine that... I think its terribly cute
