Bella seems like a very sweet girl, but I find it very disturbing how much we have glamorized being "broken." The more issues you have, the more gold stars you get. Everyone airs their problems, saying how they want to put a face to this struggle, or that struggle, or show other's that you can be successful even with this debilitating diagnosis! Etc. etc. etc. It's sad to see her so swallowed up by darkness. And to be in a world that encourages that...what's her incentive to pull herself out of it, when there's so much opportunity for her to have a platform to talk about it. Doesn't that give everyone a reason to perpetuate their misery? So they can always have something to talk about?
And isn't that just as much narcissism as anything else? "I, ME, ME, ME, I want to be THE face of clinical depression! I want to be the face of lupus! I want to be the face of whatever...."
It's disturbing, tbh.
Thank you for pointing that cause at this point I thought I was the only one to notice this sick and twisted narrative that people want to give these days as if they are victims but on the other hand want to be seen as hero and example to the world.
I do think it's even more toxic that out of all her peers (Gigi, Kendall,Kaia,Hailey & co.. with famous parents and connections) She is the most solid model , tons of work runways , campaigns , cosmetic contract , collaboration with designer, she fill all the case of a supermodel liking it or not. Helping her to develop to be a decent model (don't get me wrong ,it is just considering where she comes from and the privileges she had) Bella was trained like a stallion because G*d knows how terrible how she looked when she first started : I remember when they throw her doing her first runway show for Desigual A MESS and no instructions before...She admitted herself that she felt embarrassed about it.
As she said it that convo :
"People can say anything about how I look, about how I talk, about how I act. But in seven years I never missed a job, canceled a job, was late to a job. No one can ever say that I don’t work my *** off.”
That's a fact and still..They do her dirty by forcing to do this type of interview to get a cover while Kaia Gigi and Kendall speaks superficial and boring stuff that no one here care about...
I don't think the portrait of her they try to show is right for example. Bella had something to bring to the table but they missed it ! She finally talk about her plastic surgery ( a part of it at least ) and that she regrets it but why not warn people about doing it at such a young age.. I find it crazy that her mother let her go threw such a heavy procedure at 14 you are still a child ..it is not even legal in France but that's is a another subject
She feels lonely and is broken I get it but I do not believe about the anorexia issues and co stop this narrative seriously especially considering how she looks right now..
One thing that I admire is that she is aware she's an example to young girls ( she is right most of teen and young women dress like her ) and I'm pissed at the Vogue for not using it for a good cause
For a long overdue cover it's not bad but not her best work either but congrats
The next model I could see get a cover is Adut she is loved in America and has more chance than a Anna Ewers , Rianne or Imaan ( even if it would be lovely)
